Thinking about the time I attended a course on Thomas Bernhard. Turned out everyone was there because they wanted to write a bernhardian novel about their specific social or professional niche. As the course progressed and the more Bernhard we read, the more the students started to succumb to a sort of Bernhard psychosis and deliver interminable, unhinged bernhardian rants
