āYears ago when I served as a stake president, a man came to confess a transgression. His confession surprised me. He had been an active member of the Church for years. I wondered how a person with his experience could have committed the sin that he did.
After some pondering, it came to me that this brother had never become truly converted.
Despite his Church activity, the gospel had not penetrated his heart. It was only an external influence in his life.
How can you become converted?
How can you make the gospel of Jesus Christ not just an influence in your life but the controlling influence and, indeed, the very core of what you are?
The ancient prophet Jeremiah spoke of the law of Godāthe gospelābeing written in our hearts.
He quotes the Lord speaking about us, His people in the latter days: āI will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.ā
The gospel cannot be written in your heart unless your heart is OPEN.
Without a heartfelt desire, you can participate in sacrament meetings, classes, and Church activities and do the things I will tell you, but it wonāt make much difference.
But if your heart is open and WILLING, like the heart of a child, let me tell you what you can do to be converted.
As a first step, you must lay aside any feeling of pride that is so common in the world today. By this I mean the attitude that rejects the authority of God to rule in our lives.
You hear it expressed today in phrases such as āDo your own thingā or āRight and wrong depend on what I feel is right for me.ā
That attitude is a rebellion against God, just as Lucifer rebelled against God in the premortal world.
He rejected Godās right to declare the truth and establish the law. Satan wanted, and still wants, the power to declare arbitrarily what is right and wrong.
Our beloved Creator does not force us to accept His authority, but willingly submitting to that authority is the first step in conversion.
With conversion, you will wear a protective armorāāthe whole armour of God,āā and the words of Christ, which come by the Holy Spirit, āwill tell you all thingsā you should do.
As you become converted, you will have comparable protections to keep you from temptation and deliver you from evil.
Sometimes evil will not find you. Sometimes you will be protected when evil is made invisible to you.
Even when you must confront it directly, you will do so with faith, not fear.
We have talked of desire, submissiveness to God, study, prayer, service, repentance, and obedience. From these, coupled with your worship and activity in Church, will come testimony and conversion.
The gospel wonāt be just an influence in your lifeā it will be what you ARE.
PLEAD with God in the name of Christ to write the gospel in your mind that you may have understanding and in your heart that you may LOVE to do His will.
Pursue this blessing diligently and patiently, and you WILL receive it, for God āis gracious and merciful, ⦠and of great kindness.ā

Pat McAfee just shared on his show the full story behind the viral moment of reading the Book of Mormon live on College GameDay.
Turns out a BYU student tossed a Book of Mormon onto the stage, and Pat proceeded to pick it up and read it live on air. It was completely spontaneous.
The verses he picked were completely random, prompted by the markings made by the student š
Hopefully this moment spurs more people to pick up a Book of Mormon and explore what it contains for themselves!
The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and is full of truth rooted in His gospel. Along with the Bible, it is an inspired book that has helped millions come to know Jesus Christ.
@PatMcAfeeShow Thank you for giving us that great moment and we invite you to continue reading God's words that have changed our lives!

āToday, the Lordās work in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is moving forward at an accelerated pace.
The Church will have an unprecedented, unparalleled future.
Remember that the fulness of Christās ministry lies in the future.
The prophecies of His Second Coming have yet to be fulfilled.
We are just building up to the climax of this last dispensationāwhen the Saviorās Second Coming becomes a reality.
The time is coming when those who do not obey the Lord will be separated from those who do.
The choice to come unto Christ is not a matter of physical location; it is a matter of INDIVIDUAL COMMITMENT.
Spiritual security will ALWAYS depend upon HOW one lives, not where one lives.ā

The Book of Mormon takes place in the ancient Americas and, like the Bible, was written by Jesus Christ's followers. It teaches His gospel and testifies of Him. As you live the teachings found in the Book of Mormon, you can find peace and truth.

āBrothers and sisters, do you realize that your testimony can literally change livesā your own and the lives of others?
As you share it FREELY, your own testimony will grow stronger.
You will draw closer to the Lord and feel more deeply the power of His redemption.
In turn, you will become instruments in His hands to bless and minister to those around you.ā

You might reasonably wonder why a loving and all-powerful God allows our mortal test to be so hard.
It is because He knows that we must grow in spiritual cleanliness and stature to be able to live in His presence.
My wise mother taught me this when I was a little boy. I had asked her, āMother, why is life so hard?ā She smiled and said firmly, āHal, of course itās hard. Itās supposed to be. Life is a test.ā
Years later I realized that as she spoke these words to me, she was passing through tests of her own and rising up through a lifetime of terrible medical trials. But, because she knew the words āFear not, I am with thee,ā were true, the Lordās promise was fulfilled for her.
We know that the Lord will comfort all of those who try to follow Him. And He offers us the great blessing and trust to help Him keep His promise to succor Heavenly Fatherās children in their tests along their mortal journey toward home.

Putting money or something of value at risk to bet on a particular outcome or event is an activity that has plagued mankind almost, I suppose, from the beginning of time.
And time has not made it any more worthwhile or any less harmful. Unfortunately, in recent years, gambling has become incredibly pervasive.

Jesus Christ lives and loves to lift.
As a teen learning to fly a two-seat glider, I learned the crucial skill in gliding is finding rising air, otherwise known as ālift.ā You cannot see it, but you can see what it does.
Just as there is rising air, there is sinking air, called āsink.ā It likewise cannot be seen, but it can be felt, and I quickly learned to avoid it.
During my journey of faith, I recognised that the principles of gliding I had learned in my teens have significant similarities with spiritual principles: We must avoid sink and find lift.
Spiritual lift cannot be seen or touched, but as we learn to discern and act upon the sensitive impressions of the Holy Spirit, we can feel itāas surely as I felt the rising air lift a wing beneath me.
When we first experience lift, it is wondrous. We may feel a soul-expanding lightness of being unlike anything weāve ever experienced.
Pay close attention to the sweet, peaceful feelings that come when you choose spiritual lift, the rising forces that bring you into the Saviourās loving upward pull.
Likewise, pay attention to the dim and dampening feelings that lead away from the Redeemer and His infinite love.
We can learn to live in spiritual lift. And when we sink, our gentle Saviour is there to lift us up as we turn to Him.
Your Saviour is your lift. He is your ever-rising air. There is no limit to how high you can climb with Him.

I came across this today from Elder Renlundā this is quite the list of BLESSINGS!!
We need to GET TO THE TEMPLE!!
āAs we participate in family history and temple work, we also lay claim to āHEALINGā blessings PROMISED by prophets and apostles.
These blessings are also breathtakingly amazing because of their scope, specificity, and consequence in mortality.
This long list includes these blessings:
ā¢Increased understanding of the Savior and His atoning sacrifice;
ā¢Increased influence of the Holy Ghost to feel strength and direction for our own lives;
ā¢Increased faith, so that conversion to the Savior becomes deep and abiding;
ā¢Increased ability and motivation to learn and repent because of an understanding of who we are, where we come from, and a clearer vision of where we are going;
ā¢Increased refining, sanctifying, and moderating influences in our hearts;
ā¢Increased joy through an increased ability to feel the love of the Lord;
ā¢Increased family blessings, no matter our current, past, or future family situation or how imperfect our family tree may be;
ā¢Increased love and appreciation for ancestors and living relatives, so we no longer feel alone;
ā¢Increased power to discern that which needs healing and thus, with the Lordās help, serve others;
ā¢Increased protection from temptations and the intensifying influence of the adversary; and
ā¢Increased assistance to mend troubled, broken, or anxious hearts and make the wounded whole.
The blessings of the temple have a stunning capacity to HEAL.
Temple blessings can heal HEARTS and LIVES and FAMILIES.ā

Heber C. Kimball
May 1868
"After a while, the gentiles will gather in Salt Lake City by the thousands, and this will be among the wicked cities of the world." He said:
"A spirit of speculation and extravagance will take possession of the Saints, and the results will be financial bondage." He said:
"An army of elders will be sent to the four quarters of the earth, to search out the righteous and warn the wicked of coming events. "All kinds of religions will be started, and miracles performed that will deceive the very elect, if such a thing were possible.
"Persecution comes next, and all Latter-day Saints will be tested to the limit." Many will apostatize, and others will stand still, not knowing what to do. "Before the temple reaches the square, our brethren will be imprisoned until the penitentiary shall be full, and some of them will be removed to other penitentiaries. "Mothers would weep for their husbands, and children would cry for their fathers. Some would die, and sorrow would fill the hearts of the Latter-day Saints. "When the temple roof is on, the persecution will lessen, but when the temple is completed, the power of the Evil One will be shut out."The prayers of the Saints will then be heard. The sick will be taken there and healed."The Spirit of God will rest upon the people, and work for the dead will be continued night and day." "The judgments of God will be poured out upon the wicked, to the extent that our elders from far and near will be called home ; or in other words, the Gospel will be taken from the gentiles, and later on will be carried to the Jews." "The western boundaries of the State of Missouri will be swept so clean of its inhabitants that as President Young tells us, 'when we return to that place there will not be as much as a yellow dog to wag his tail.' "Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to the test that
will try the very best of them. "The pressure will become so great that the righteous among us will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes." In 1856āthat is seventy-four years agoāa small group of friends convened in the house of the Lord, called the Endowment House. The
conversation was about the isolated condition of the Latter-day Saints.
"Yes," said Brother Heber, "we think we are secure here in the chambers of these everlasting hills, where we can close the doors of the canyons against mobs and persecutors, the wicked and the vile, who have always beset us with violence and robbery, but I want to say to you, my brethren, the time is coming when we will be mixed up in these now peaceful valleys to that extent that IT WILL BE
DIFFICULT TO TELL THE FACE OF A SAINT FROM THE FACE OF AN ENEMY AGAINST THE PEOPLE
OF GOD."Then is the time to look out for the great sieve, for there will be a great sifting time, and many will fall. "For I say unto you there is a test, a Test, a TEST coming." He further said:
'This Church has before it many close places through which it will have to pass before the work of God is crowned with glory. "The difficulties will be of such a character that the man or woman who does not possess personal knowledge or witness will fall. If you have not got this testimony, you must live right and call upon the Lord, and cease not
until you obtain it. "Remember these sayings:
The time will come when no man or woman will be able to endure on borrowed light. Each will have to be guided by the light within themselves. If you do not have the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, how can you stand?"

From President Oaksās first address to the members of the Church after becoming the prophetā
"One of the many reasons you will need the CONSTANT influence of the Holy Ghost is that you live in a season in which the adversary has become so effective at disguising truth that if you donāt have the Holy Ghost, you WILL be deceived.
Many obstacles lie ahead.
The distractions will be many.
Even active members may sometimes have concerns about some historical, doctrinal, or social issues connected with theĀ Church.
I want to help all our members overcome present or future doubts. Whatever those doubts, the way to overcome them is to get closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.
1. STRENGTHEN OUR FAITH IN HIM.
Strong faith requires more than strong desire. It means daily trying, one step at a time, with prayer and scripture study.
2. INCREASE OUR HUMILITY.
Increased humility draws us closer to Jesus Christ. When we are humble, we can more clearly hear the Lordās voice.
Like faith in God, humility is a master virtue, given to help us learn other virtues necessary for us to become what our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son created us toĀ become.
Humility is NEVER accusing nor contentious.Ā
Humility is repentant and seeks not to justify its follies. It is FORGIVING others in the realization that there may be errors of the same kind or worse that we ourselves commit.
To have humility is one of the POWERFUL commandments we have been given to guide us in our mortal journey. It prepares us for our appointed meeting with our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Take care not to become distracted.
HUMILITY, FAITH, and TRUST in the Lord are the remedies for wavering.
3. SEEK HELP FROM OTHERS.
Remember, āto survive spiritually,ā you will need the āconstant influence of the Holy Ghost.ā
An ABUNDANCE of speculation and false information in podcasts and on social media surrounds us.
Some may protest or question the truth of Church doctrine without knowing or even understanding the fulness of thatĀ doctrine.
Donāt be persuaded by false or inaccurate information. Discuss your concerns with faithful, well-informed friends and ALWAYS take those concerns to theĀ Lord.
Seek friends and associates who are STRIVING TO FOLLOW THE LORDā friends and associates with whom you can feel the Spirit and with whom you can reinforce yourĀ faith.
SURROUND YOURSELF with people who believe.
PROTECT yourself with the weekly renewing of your covenants by partaking of the SACRAMENT and with consistent efforts to live according to those sacred covenants.
Those who have been endowed should include regular attendance at the TEMPLE.
In sum, stay on the covenant path. These simple practices will protect and strengthenĀ you.
4. BE PATIENT.
We are all a work in progress. We are all at different places on what President Nelson called āthe covenant path.ā We need to be patient with one another and, occasionally, even with ourselves.
Hold on to the first article of faith, even if something else is uncertain. And while you wait, wait upon the Lord, which includes trusting in His timing as well as in HisĀ promises.
And while we wait, we should busy ourselves with SERVICE .
Again and again, Jesus taught and demonstrated the power of service toĀ others.ā
