Former Texas Governor Ann Richards ('91-'95), a Democrat, ordered comprehensive efficiency audits of every state agency, resulting in $6B in savings, an outcome US House of Reps HR 42 celebrated. Seems Ann, also former State Treasurer, would like Prop I. govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CREC…
Continued childishness by the anti-democratic AFSCME goons, tearing down opponents’ signs in yards and at early voting sites. It’s been happening every day. They are truly shameless and disgusting.

She called tax limits “total bullshit.”
Then backed Prop Q — the biggest property tax hike in city history.
Voters rejected it 63-37. In many District 8 precincts it was closer to 80%.
She still wants more revenue first. Accountability never.

Ryan Alter and Selena Xie (@SelenaforAustin) are coordinating on the campaign trail.
Here’s Xie campaigning in her official Austin EMS Commander uniform — the same uniform city rules say employees shouldn’t use to influence elections or campaign activity.
The photo is from a joint event promoting both of them. City Charter and personnel policies restrict uniformed employees from using their official role and gear for political purposes.
Just imagine what they’ll accomplish together if they both get voted onto Council.
A criminal investigation is warranted.

More sleaze from Ryan Alter.

Status Quo Selina called tax limits “total bullshit.” Backed Prop Q anyway.
Voters crushed it 63-37. Austin District 8 wants results, not another damn tax hike.

More dirty work from the AFSCME goons, who apparently don’t believe in fair and free elections. If you’re a member of Local 1624, you should be denouncing this misconduct!

Candidate Jeff Bowen writes the City has been routing ~$8.5M a year in ACL money to a private foundation while only booking ~$103k for the city itself.
Parks look broke. So they’re asking voters for a $260M bond.
The real money never hits the city’s books. Taxpayers still get the bill - ridiculous.

Lots of stories this week regarding ZILKER. district8dispatch.substack.c…
Attended and spoke at the Austin Parks commission on Monday. Did not think the working group was going to pass.
6 for / 2 Abstained/ one off Dias. Just took a while to get there.
This was not difficult.
City Hall is diverting some $8.5 million per year in ACL Festival revenue from the city budget to a private foundation, out of view where it can escape public scrutiny and accountability. Yet the Council majority will whine about a budget shortfall and raise the tax rate to the legal max, then have the gall to ask the voters to approve $260 million in park bonds two years ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, only a paltry $103,500 actually hits the City’s books, under a 15-year agreement signed behind closed doors.
Who can trust these people anymore?

More horseshit from the horses’ asses that dominate this City Council. Throw the bums out (and don’t be fooled by the new bum-wannabes, namely Selena Xie and Amber Goodwin)!
There's more to Prop J than the ballot language suggests.
The "corrections" remove voter protections:
· bundles Charter changes.
· lets City Council rewrite citizen ballot initiatives.
· removes your right to vote on long-term city debt.
Vote Against J.

Vote For Prop I
Early voting ends Friday!
Election Day is Tuesday November 3rd
More misconduct by the AFSCME goons this morning. Support Prop I, and keep this lowlifes in check — unless this is how you want things run at City Hall, too.
If you’re still undecided who to vote for in a particular race, then maybe consider a write-in for the fictional candidate who goes by the name “Nobody”:
Nobody’s perfect.
Nobody knows what he’s talking about.
Nobody has a clue what to do next.
Nobody will keep his campaign promises.
Nobody cares what you think.
Nobody’s going to tell me what to do.
Nobody loves you when you’re down and out.
Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen.
Nobody can do it like McDonald’s can.
Nobody does chicken like KFC.
Nobody really gives a shit.
Nobody is worthy of your full support.
We might actually be way better off if Nobody got elected. 🤡

They are also posting signs too close to polls. They drove right past the "no more signs" sign. Had to have an election judge take this down.
Memo to AFSCME Local 1624: Restrain your goons from continuing to remove your opponents’ signs at the polls.

Charter & ordinances work together like the Constitution & federal statutes.
Would anyone say the 15th Amendment is pointless because Congress had already passed the Civil Rights Act (1866) and Reconstruction Acts (1867)?
One protects the future, the other protects the present.
