if i decided today to become a witch from scratch the first thing i would do is research/search for a protective deity find one you feel called to, by called i mean it could literally be an internal pull or it could be as simple as you like the way their name looks research—by research i mean websites with real information, books, etc. deities see you researching them as a first offering in a sense— why would they connect to your intent if you wont even take the time to learn about them if they want to work with you- you will absolutely know. im not going to expand because you will know trust me. they will send signs in a way you notice and if you want you can even ask them to send signs in a specific way then you start taking steps to connecting with them and getting into the routine of what works best for you — your style of offering, your style of inviting them to help you, etc and comparing that to how they are said to prefer it done based on the research you did beforehand work on this relationship. respect it. make it clear your intent is protection. keep showing up for them, and they will do the same. then you dont have to constantly do energy clean up for evil eye, jealousy, etc . its already being almost preventatively done for you. sometimes you will feel a little symptom here and there and need to do a deeper than usual cleanse but thats normal. you of course still need to cleanse your energy on a daily basis, maybe multiple times a day if you are doing heavy workings but there wont be the weight of energy drain and attack the way it would be if you didnt have this bond you can also do this with your guardian angel and spirit guides too— invite them (spirit guides i mean; your guardian doesnt need invitation) to protect and help keep your energy sealed. your guardian angel you can communicate intent to and then just thank them for their extra help in that area every day
