Woke up an award-winning film writer. SURREAL. First time I put myself out as a screenwriter and storyteller, and it gets recognized and awarded. Thanks to @mistermautin for taking a chance on me, for giving this story a chance and for believing in me.

A safe classroom. A loving classroom. A teacher that loves her job. A teacher that loves kids. A well educated teacher. Kids that love their teacher. Kids that KNOW they’re safe. Kids that love going to that class. A WELL TAUGHT CLASS!
Argue with a book! I know what I’m saying!

A regulated nervous system still gets angry.
A regulated nervous system still feels fear.
A regulated nervous system still feels rage.
A regulated nervous system still gets sad.
A regulated nervous is a biological state of safety.
A regulated nervous system is NOT a flatline of endless “calm”. It is the capacity to experience the full, vibrant, & sometimes messy spectrum of human emotions without getting permanently stuck in them.

Love. Smh
This! I traveled to Nigeria and before coming back, I needed to braid my hair, so I remembered the hairstylist I had in Abuja. She usually did my hair. She didn’t have a big shop, but God, she is so talented. So I rang my cousin Chi and asked after the hairstylist to see if she could braid my hair. Then my cousin told me that after she got married to her husband, he stopped her from doing the salon business. He said he wasn’t comfortable because he felt men would be making advances at times, and she was going to be making more money than him. So I was curious to know what she’s doing now, and she said the last she heard was that the lady was now frying akara, but she doesn’t know what she’s doing right now. For minutes, I sat down, wondering how a woman who was talented and gifted would let him reduce her life to nothing like that, all in the name of love and marriage. My heart broke.
At least he finally said yes to her. She’ll be fine. She’s just too sweet for all this drama.
