Advance Scouting Report on Caleb Williams
By: Former New York Jets Pro Scout Daniel Kelly
@Patriots @Seahawks @Buccaneers @Saints @Lions @Jaguars @MiamiDolphins @BuffaloBills @packers @Vikings
Caleb Williams is nothing but a moody glorified game manager at this point of his NFL career. He specializes in handing the ball off and throwing short passes.
Chicago hides Williams behind behind their run game.
Per Team Rankings (dot com)—
The Bears have the most rushing attempts per game than any team in the NFL (36.0) and the No. 1 rushing attack in the NFL that’s averaging 160.7 yards per game.
Per Pro Football Focus (PFF) last week against the Falcons—
25/30 of his completions were short passes (9 yards or less).
10 of them were thrown behind the line of scrimmage (LOS).
The entire focal point of Chicago’s offense is in the behind the line of scrimmage to 9 yards from the line of scrimmage range.
Chicago wants to run the ball and play dink-and-dunk football.
On the season—
Per PFF—
54/66 of Williams completions have been 9 yards or less.
The key to defeating Chicago is to flood that area of the field with defenders.
Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores did that two weeks ago and Williams had his lowest completion percentage of the season (57.7%) and his slowest time to throw of the season (PFF: 3.97 seconds).
Watch the video clips below that illustrate exactly what Flores did.
By putting 7 up at the line of scrimmage pre-snap, it forced Williams to try to figure out who was coming and who was dropping into coverage and it exposed the fact Williams can’t read defenses.
This is exactly why Williams likes to hold the ball so long.
His time to throw has gotten slower and slower and slower each and every season he’s been in the NFL (PFF: 2024 3.03 seconds, 2025 3.24 seconds and 2026 3.50 seconds).
He likes to dictate to defenses by running around and waiting for his receivers to get open to compensate for his inability to read defenses (just like he did at USC when his time to throw was 2022 3.24 seconds and 2023 3.17 seconds per PFF).
The key to defeating Williams is dictating the game to him—not letting him do the dictating.
Flores completely exposed Williams and gave the league the blueprint on how to defeat him.
Get people in his face pre and post snap.
Williams completion percentages this season per PFF:
Kept clean: 84.7%
Under pressure: 50.0%
Not blitzed: 87.5%
When blitzed: 60.8%
Dictate. To. Williams.
Flood his comfort zone with defenders (0-9 yards).
Stop the run.
Blitz and pressure him.
Force him to have to try to win passing the ball +9 yards downfield.
Force him to make faster throwing decisions.
Take him out of his comfort zone.
Put the game on his shoulders. They try to hide him. Expose him like Flores did.

There’s suddenly a collective effort out there to try to sell the public on Jayden Daniels.
1. He’s injury prone and signing an injury prone player to an extension is a bad idea. He’s already had two left elbow dislocations and he’s wearing a brace to try to prevent a third, which if that happens, would likely require surgery. He’s also had other injuries. He likes to run and he’s built like a piece of paper. The chances of him staying healthy based on his injury background and playing style is very low. Bad investment.
2. I don’t see how Washington can trust Jayden Daniels after the last two games of him showing zero situational awareness. Bad investment (see video evidence below).
3. He’s been inconsistent this season. First two games his completion percentage was 52.9% and 64.7%. Last two games he’s been at 68.0% and 72.5%. His time to throw ties into that. His time to throw the first two games was 3.48 seconds and 3.37 seconds and the last two games it’s been 2.71 seconds and 2.88 seconds (PFF). Which one is he? Inconsistency is a bad investment.
4. Washington is not winning with him when he has started games in 2025-2026. Washington is 2-8-1 in his past 11 starts. Bad investment.
Somebody has to say this stuff. I’ll say it.
As a former NFL Scout—
I don’t know how any team can trust Jayden Daniels as a starting quarterback going forward. Best case scenario, he lacks situational awareness. Worst case scenario, it’s intentional.

🚨GM to Jason La Canfora on #Eagles Jalen Hurts:
“This was already the end for Hurts...
Howie was looking for his next guy.”
Several GMs say Howie might’ve spent a 2nd-rounder on Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby if he’d been allowed into the supplemental draft
Pass Interference:
Clemson Cornerback #23 Ashton Hampton.
Vs. LSU (2025)
My best advice to the Longhorns coaching staff—
Game plan first read throws for Arch Manning. I put a first-round grade on his 2023-2024 spot reps, and they were mostly first reads. Different guy back then: firstroundmock.com/2025/05/a…

Charlie Becker has the highest-graded ball skills of any receiver prospect since 2019.
Top 5:
1. Charlie Becker, Indiana (2027)
2. Travis Hunter, Colorado (2025)
3. Carnell Tate, Ohio State (2026)
4. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Ohio State (2023)
5. Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State (2027)
Nobody is trading for Shedeur Sanders.
1. He has not created any trade value in the NFL.
2. He pushed a referee in a college game.
When he’s done in Cleveland—he’s done in the league.
Shedeur Sanders has not created any trade value in the NFL.
NFL Career:
• 56.8% NFL completion percentage
• 7 TD and 10 INT.
• 3.32 second time to throw (PFF)
• Second lowest QBR the NFL has seen in the past 20 years (2025)

🇺🇸 Descendants of the Native American chief who inspired the Washington Redskins logo want Trump's help restoring the NFL team's former name and image.
“They tried to erase us, like we didn't exist anymore,” said Kenneth Conway, whose family says it was never consulted before the 2020 change.
The family also wants the Commanders' new stadium named after Chief Two Guns White Calf, with plans to meet team representatives in November.

Descendants of the chief who inspired the "Washington Redskins" logo accuse the football team of trying to erase them, call for a meeting with President Trump to get the name restored.
The family of Chief Two Guns White Calf says they were never asked about the name change.
"They tried to erase us, like we didn't exist anymore," said estate lead Kenneth Conway.
The descendants say the Redskins logo brought their family pride, and they want the chief to be remembered.
"They did not even ask our family for approval. They didn't ask for nothing from us. I mean, we literally got erased," said Brock Conway, as reported by WTVR.
"We're hopeful for a meeting with President Trump in order to help get this pushed forward," said Morningstar Gopher.
"There's a lot of diehard Redskins fans down in Washington, D.C. This would be a win-win, I think, for everybody. It would be a win-win for the family because it would be so honored and the history of their ancestor."
The name was removed in 2020 because liberals thought it was a slur. The Washington Commanders are building a new stadium, which is set to open in 2030.
Bring back the Redskins. It's time.
Can you believe it’s been over a year since Ben Johnson asked Caleb Williams to clean up his body language and he still hasn’t done it?

I don’t believe in “adjusted completion percentage.”
It’s subjective.
Highest adjusted comp pct this season
Caleb Williams 86.1%
Kyler Murray 82.0%
Lamar Jackson 80.9%
Jayden Daniels 80.8%
Geno Smith 80.5%

A big part of Brian Flores defensive success has also beeen because of one the coaches on the defensive side with him. Charlie Fyre.
Charlie Fyre was a former NFL QB for a couple years before transitioning into coaching. And on the Vikings he’s a offense to defense translator to Flores. He helps the entire defense learn how to read a QB and what decisions they are likely going to make or do on certain plays.
They prepare for each QB differently. Frye scripts plays and diagrams formations entirely from the perspective of the upcoming opponent’s quarterback. And then shows the defense how the QB will likely play against this kind of defense and how to counter that.
Fyre will also purposely throw INT’s during practices and drills to help the secondary and linebackers read where the QB’s eyes are at and when they are about to throw and where to be on time when it happens.
On gamedays. Fyre is Flores right hand man and points out where the offense is adjusting so Flores can adapt to it and remain unpredictable.
Giving Brian Flores a for QB who can now assist him on what opposing QB’s are going to do is just diabolical and unfair. It’s like a mob having a consigliere who use to be on the other side of rivalry and showing them what they plan on doing and how to get the jump on them first 😭🔥.
And so far. Everything has worked out perfectly for Flores and Fyre as a result. #SKOL
