If you increase the population of a country you need More houses More roads More trains More hospitals More doctors More nurses More schools More teachers More police More courts More water More power Etc etc. It takes a special kind of stupid to not realise that there is a realistic maximum rate that any government and economy can deliver these things. So if you exceed the rate of population expansion that you can cope with, you're basically screwed. And by the way, the Government can't build houses or infrastructure itself. It doesn't employ builders, tradespeople, construction workers etc. Government actually has limited tools to make all this happen. Ideology needs to take account of reality.
