The Nuns of Benedictine College have released a statement regarding the Commencement Speech of Harrison Butker. If any "Christian" men have issues with the Sisters statement go argue with the wall.

Too often, the people we ask for feedback are nice but not kind. Kind people will tell you things a nice person will not. A kind person will tell you that you have spinach on your teeth. A nice person won’t because it’s uncomfortable. A kind person will tell us what holds us back, even when it’s uncomfortable. A nice person avoids giving us critical feedback because they’re worried about hurting our feelings.

I try to communicate with my students that… •If you hang out with 3 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 people, you will be the 4th •If you hang out with 3 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 people, you will be the 4th •If you hang out with 3 𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐬, you will be the 4th

“Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator. But among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.” — W. H. Auden via the 5-Bullet Friday newsletter (tim.blog/fbf) from @tferriss

Navy SEALs have a saying. You may find it helpful. When something sucks, they look at each other and say: "FULL BENEFIT" It’s an instant mindset shift. • Hiking and it starts pouring rain? • Driving and your car breaks down? • Working on a project and lost a draft? FULL BENEFIT. *** LESSON: Adversity is an opportunity The message is simple. Every adversity is an opportunity. • To grow • To learn • To evolve • To get stronger • To become better These moments forge us if we let them. The next time you're facing something hard, welcome it. Work through the process. Learn the lessons. Reap the full benefit. *** Follow @TMitrosilis for more content like this.

When confidence comes from results, you gravitate toward doing easy things. When confidence comes from the ability to figure it out, nothing can stop you.

A common source of disappointment is recency bias: weighing the last week more heavily than the last year. Zooming in on the immediate past magnifies slumps. Zooming out farther reveals upward slopes. Progress is rarely visible at a snapshot in time. It unfolds over a lifetime.

Iowa all-American MLB Jack Campbell: “When outsiders say, ‘Why not give up on the season?’ No offense to them, but that may be kind of why you’re an outsider. ... If you’re going to give up when stuff gets hard, that’s not the right way to look at things.”

Accountability isn’t about punishment, it’s about growth. It’s about believing people are capable of a higher standard, and fighting for them to pursue that standard. Accountability is not something you do to someone, it’s something you do for someone. Call people up, not out.

"The best way to improve your ability to think is to spend time thinking. One way to force yourself to slow down and think is to write. Good writing requires clear thinking. Writing gives poor thinking nowhere to hide." — @shaneparrish

I’m often in such a hurry, to do more — be more. Why is this? Sometimes, it’s okay to let my precious heart lie fallow. Indeed, it’s necessary more often than I think. Let us pause, beloveds. Rest. And give ourselves the pleasure of our own company. – at Asheville, NC

Thinking we can live an error free life is often a symptom of our pride. Our failures can actually be a source of Blessings… Humbling us and giving us empathy for other people in their times of weaknesses and challenges.

People without any meaningful goals are always full of drama. They are bored with life. They end up focusing on small things that don’t matter.
