One Tournament. Thousands of Lionfish. A big impact on the Pensacola Coast. 🐟🌊 The inaugural FWC Pensacola Lionfish Invitational & Festival was a HUGE success, with 71 registered participants an incredible 6,006 invasive lionfish were removed from the waters of Escambia County. 🌊🎉 Several hundred people joined us throughout the weekend, bringing the community together for conservation, and a whole lot of lionfish eating and education. But removing lionfish is about more than winning a tournament. Lionfish are an invasive species that can put pressure on native marine life by competing for food and habitat. Every lionfish removed means one less invasive predator impacting our native fish and reef ecosystems. That’s why events like this matter - they turn conservation into community action. 💚 Funds were raised through this tournament that support the efforts of the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida. A huge THANK YOU to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, and partner who helped make this event possible. Here’s to an even bigger impact next year! 💪
