insanely proud of our new #doctorsmess - it was the outcome of a fabulous group of people coming together and having a laugh painting until 3am one weekend it’s not often that you see, let alone make, genuine and sincere change in the NHS but we did it! the NHS needs more of it

Busy London Weighting event at St Thomas’ today. Great to see so many doctors engaged, with justified frustration at a cost of living allowance frozen for 20 years while costs keep rising. Want change? Vote YES in the indicative ballot: forms.cloud.microsoft/e/7tYH…

London weighting for doctors hasn't changed since 2005. Time to fix that. Our campaign events start today at St Thomas' Hospital, led by your London reps and BMA staff. Come and say hello. Check your emails and vote yes in the indicative ballot by November 30th!
Doctors’ London Weighting has been frozen since 2005. Enough is enough. Today, BMA London has written to NHS London’s Regional Director calling for employers across the capital to come to the negotiating table. If you work in London, vote in our indicative ballot below 👇🏼

Working overnight this Sunday, 25 October? At 2am, the clocks go back to 1am meaning you will work an extra hour If your shift or on-call period means you work that extra hour, exception report the additional time worked and likewise for breaks not taken on time.

In 2005… 📺 YouTube launched 🎮 Xbox 360 launched 🏆 The Goblet of Fire was in cinemas 😐 It was the last time the London weighting went up for doctors. If you’re a BMA member in London - vote to change that 👇 forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/…

We're asking for parity with other NHS staff, not special treatment. The cost of working in London has risen. London Weighting hasn't. London doctors, please vote in the indicative ballot and help us secure fair London Weighting for doctors. forms.cloud.microsoft/e/7tYH…

We’re not there yet, but this is a good start and a result of our efforts. More jobs and better career progression for doctors should never have taken strike action to achieve. But finally starting to turn that tanker is the result of us standing together.
Your collective action has secured additional posts across 48 training programmes, plus 32 new academic clinical fellow posts. On top of that last year’s Round 1 competition ratios are down significantly. This is progress, and we’ll keep fighting for even more training posts.

Patients need doctors, but if doctors are going to stay working in the NHS, then they need to feel valued. A 2.4% uplift, yet another sub-inflationary pay rise, is not the way to tell a workforce you value them.

Resident doctors have made it clear that we will not accept real-terms pay cuts. If the DDRB recommends a sub-inflationary uplift that reverses the progress we’ve made towards restoring our pay, we need only look back at the last few years to see what would come next.

Doctors in London have had their cost of living allowance frozen for over 20 years, despite soaring living costs. It's time to act. The indicative ballot opens today. Doctors, vote YES and talk to your colleagues about the campaign. Let's win this together.
Doctors’ London Weighting hasn’t increased in more than 20 years, while rent, travel, childcare and other costs have all soared. London's doctors work with an outdated allowance. @BMALondon

Pay for resident doctors remains significantly behind where it should be despite this year’s settlement and the pay review body should be “on notice” ahead of its next recommendation, the departing chair of BMA’s Resident Doctors Committee @fletchjack says bmj.com/content/395/bmj-2026…

Another positive development for academic trainees in England, eligibility covers those Out of Programme for Research (OOPR) and also Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) in University employment, at the time of paying for examinations, improving parity for academics @BMA_Academics
Expensive exam fees have always been an unfair financial burden for resident doctors trying to progress in their careers. But this is set to change. As agreed in the deal made with the government earlier this year, resident doctors will soon be able to apply to have Medical Royal College and Faculty exams reimbursed. A complete list of Medical Royal College and Faculty exams that will be covered is now available on our website and the Academy's website. bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/res… The system is expected to go live in the next few weeks, along with guidance on how to claim. Stay tuned for further updates 👀
