We’re inspired by the women who came first and paved the way, and the women just joining the sector with so much enthusiasm to make change happen. 💪 #IWD2023 #DigitALL #EmbraceEquity #womeninwood

So nice to be back in person at #FOCONF23! Literal rocket scientist Natalie Panek is giving an inspiring talk about solving “wicked problems”, relatable to the way we work together to continually move forestry forward. #GrowingAHealthyTomorrow

Thanks @UofTForestry for inviting @JesseKak and I to talk about @women_in_wood this evening. Things sure have changed since we started in 2015, but there’s still a need for allies in the workforce for the underrepresented. Thanks to everyone who has helped us over the years!

A beautiful in-progress operation during yesterdays’ snowmageddon. Partial harvest systems are used to regenerate more shade-tolerant species like white pine. It’s always neat to see all the volume on the ground, in addition to all those 🌲 left standing for next time.

If you’ve been following along awhile, you’ll also know that I’m a fan of clearcuts for ☀️ loving species. Give the trees what they want! One of many reasons that forestry is science and data based - to provide the right treatment in the right place.

Happy holidays to all! Feeling lucky to have somehow dodged all the travel mayhem and made it to Newfoundland for some family time. I get my love of the woods from my Dad and can’t think of a better place to be. ❤️

Hey tree friends! I haven’t seen a red spruce since my @UNBForEM days and they are uncommon around here in @RenfrewCounty. Is that what the beautiful tall specimen is amongst the cedar? Poll follows!

Kristin Shaw, GM and 7th generation of Herb Shaw & Sons Lumber, sharing some history of this important pillar in our @RenfrewCounty community, as the company celebrates its 175th anniversary. 175!! If that isn’t an example of sustainability, I don’t know what is. Congratulations!

A @hallmarkchannel Christmas movie featuring a forester is long overdue. 😂
To all the burned-out big-city executives coming back to their hometown for the holidays: yes our foresters manage a large tree farm and yes they had a crush on you in high school.

One of the strongest characteristics of a forester is a love of trees. With that comes the knowledge and acceptance that they don’t live forever, and are a renewable resource that provides important values to society. It’s up to us to manage forests with integrity. @_OPFA

This beauty is staying put as a seed source but the goal of managing this area is to create the right growing conditions (increased light availability) for more yellow birch to grow. #ItTakesAForest #ForestProud #ForestryForTheFuture
