Important to note here that many occupational/private pension schemes excluded part-time workers who were predominantly women
It wasn’t that many workers didn’t make additional/alternative pension arrangements they were often excluded from doing so

Burnham says he will never move ahead of the British public when it comes to Brexit
But plenty of journalists and others are quite happy to move ahead of Burnham when it comes to Brexit
Hint: If you are going to have an honest and open conversation about anything …
NEW
There is some confusion over Andy Burnham's position on Brexit
Earlier this morning:
Reporter asks: "Will you allow the UK to join the EU freedom of movement without a referendum?"
Andy Burnham says: "No. And I wasn't saying that", adding that he would "never move ahead of the British public when it comes to Brexit".
11.30am Lobby briefing:
Number 10 will now not say whether the British public will get a referendum on rejoining EU freedom of movement.
A spokesman says: "The process will be set out in due course ... He wants to have an open debate about this.... there are no options on the table."
What do you think? More now on @GBNEWS.
… it is important not to start that conversation by ruling stuff out
Personally I think in such a fragile and volatile political climate it is madness to reopen the Brexit debate
That shouldn’t rule out changes to our relationship with the EU
Also Burnham is 56 so …

Been critical of Burnham, but, as Tim notes, this is excellent Politician on a Train work.

Watching @AngelaRayner speak from Number 10 (the real one) from the rough sleeping summit - she is so good at this stuff
To have her followed by Louise Casey is probably the best intro to a summit ever

PM Andy Burnham will host a rough sleeping summit today with experts from the homelessness sector.
Will they get “everyone in” from the streets by Christmas? Frontline workers tell me they’re really pleased with the sentiment and energy Burnham has put behind it but think it unlikely.
Torrential rain over the weekend is a reminder of how bleak being exposed to the elements on the street can be. But do we have the housing for thousands of people?

These are fake statements and what is claimed is untrue.

Before we reach the frenzy of the pre-budget days I want to say that imo @RachelReevesMP was a much better chancellor that most think
Took on a tough job in very difficult times and did the hard work to make the house Starmer constantly said needed fixing had firm foundations

Think @FraserNelson might be on to something in yesterdays Times. The louder members of this government are the more inconsequential they are. Or rather the most consequential members - Mahmood, McFadden, Healey - are the quietest but the ones with the biggest decisions to make…
