Brits: friendly reminder that from next Tuesday, all pornographic material featuring women will be illegal. You may continue to consume gay porn since banning that would be homophobic.

Just realised the top speed limit in Italy, 130 km/h, is equivalent to slightly over 80 mph. On long motorways this feels like a pretty natural speed to drive at. I will start campaigning to have it lowered to 50 mph. People shouldn't get too comfortable.

The real AI psychosis is thinking "this is just another tool" or "it's just a stochastic parrot" and "humans still need to review every line". You gotta snap out of it.

BREAKING: Switzerland suspends funding to Doctors Without Borders after it failed to report that its staff exploited refugee women and girls for sex—in exchange for aid, jobs and money. Previously, 🇨🇭 called MSF “a source of best practice and inspiration.” swissinfo.ch/eng/internation…

In dieser Forderung ist alles enthalten, was in diesem Land schief läuft. Regulieren statt den Wirtschaftsstandort stärken.

He was famous for advocating for peace between Muslims and Christians. Islamists murdered him for that. You don’t hate the BBC enough.

Which of us has not, as a youth — perhaps in a moment of weakness — stabbed a girl ten times? I'm reliably informed that this boy has mastered the 6 times table and can almost spell "embarrassed". Certainly prison is no place for him!
A judge told a 14-year-old boy who stabbed a girl 10 times that prison was the “last place” for a “bright lad” like him, The Telegraph can reveal. 🔗:telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Do we all agree that AI is the most breathtaking mass technology of the post-War era? More amazing even than television was in the 40s or the Internet was in the 90s?

Grotesk.

22 kilobytes. I often think about the technical limitations that game designers had to work with in the 80s - both in terms of software and hardware. To me, the game that stands at the very top is Elite (1984). Elite is smaller in data size than many modern text files or desktop icons, yet it lets you freely explore a multi-galaxy-spanning universe that felt gigantic and virtually limitless. Think about this for a second: The core game code on the BBC Micro version has roughly 22 KB of memory. The C64 version from 1985, which I played as a kid, isn't much bigger. Now think about what Braben and Bell turned those few kilobytes into: a massive universe with eight galaxies, each containing 256 star systems (for a total of 2,048 planets per system). Each system featured unique details: government type, economy, technology level, population, commodity prices, and even descriptive text. Oh, and by the way, the game also rendered 3D wireframe ships, stations, and planets in real time on a 2 MHz 6502 processor. This is no slight on today’s game designers. They work with what they have, and that's okay. But when I think about the worlds that some old school programmers created with the tools they were given, it sometimes breaks my brain trying to to even remotely understand how they did it. Not megabytes, not gigabytes... kilobytes!
