I said a weird thing at the party but I told myself it’s ok to make mistakes and say awkward things, it’s ok ❤️

Gm, ICYMI:
So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Erm so if I have increased sexual availability these days is it ok to like schedule people in my calendar or no? Caveat: I’m not really interested in romance, more like Biblically Accurate Love that is both way more scary and more impersonal

A lot of people I know who do interesting things started with a diving board moment: they stood on the edge of a big project and made the leap despite being terrified. With me, this happened at 17 with my Eagle Scout Project. I found myself in charge of building a boardwalk through the woods at my summer camp. But I had never done a construction project in my life. The leap wasn't really by choice. I moved through the ranks of boyscouts, getting merit badges for learning how to set up tents and shoot rifles and so on and it was all very straightforward. And then, right before college, you get to the final rank and suddenly you have to become a project manager. I did not know what this entailed, so I went for it. In my case, building a boardwalk turned out to entail making engineering diagrams, managing a big team of builders, operating heavy machinery, and – most terrifying of all – cold-calling random businesses to ask them to donate free wood and cinderblocks. I'm lucky I was unaware of how daunting all this would be, because if I knew in advance, I probably wouldn't have jumped off the diving board. But once I was in the water, so to speak, I was shocked at how malleable reality turned out to be. I called up strangers and they gave me free stuff. I asked adults to do the woodwork and they said yes. People lent me their drills and hammers and hours. This shattered my conception of social reality, which was previously based on the theory that Things Happened in the world because of institutions and their rules and employees. It was sort of an initiation into the very idea of personal agency. Having discovered it, I had dramatically less fear the second time I jumped off the diving board, and even less the third, until today where doing things like starting companies or running festivals or whatever still feels daunting, but not paralyzing. Compare how much less intimidating the second time having sex or driving a car is to the first time. It's like that. It also helps that I've failed a bunch of times after jumping off. I've discovered that failure, while embarrassing, does not come with existential stakes. I survived. And, sure, sometimes there was reputational damage, but it blew over in time. I write about this because I know a lot of people who haven't reached the potential I see in them. Usually, in my opinion, this is because they haven't yet had their diving board moment. I know literal geniuses who rot in their day jobs because of a habit of stepping back from the diving board. For many of them, the action of stepping back might be so habitual that making the choice to jump off feels too ingrained to be a choice. This is especially true for those I know who are making lots of money doing normal jobs they hate. I do not want to tell them "just jump from the diving board!" That seems too simple. But maybe one thing I might say is, "Ask someone who loves you to push you off."

I think I’m not autistic and also neither are most of you Just like there seems to be real schizophrenia and spiritual schizophrenia (which has surface similarities) I think it’s the same with spiritual autism. Common surface reactions to things we shouldn’t be able to feel.

I’m working towards what I’m calling “Monetise Movember” I need my financials for the business to look better. Way better. I need income streams. I’m setting up a selling my books page and a Call Me page. It would be very cool if I could reach minimums for monetisations here too. I never have before. When the time comes, will you help? 🥺👉👈

I’m getting a page set up with my books for sale. Did you know I have books for sale? I have books for sale. One has 17 essays on the Kegan stages. The other is all about my transition from monogamous to polyamorous. Both have spicy sexy stories. Almost there…

I totally hear you but honestly this is not exactly a postrat space, there are a lot of big contributing vibes here that resemble that — but yeah, man, it’s shocking how good and real this is

I’m finally in the stage of life where I want to seek solutions, even if my awareness shows the person is this or that way (wrong, acting under influence of traumas). Before I would see and reject. Now it feels like the last piece of the puzzle is there: figure it out anyway
