🇵🇪💜 LONG LIVE THE LORD OF MIRACLES! LONG LIVE PERU!
With great joy, I had the blessing of presiding over the Holy Eucharist today in honor of the Lord of Miracles at St. Juliana Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, joining our beloved Peruvian community for this beautiful annual celebration of faith and devotion.
Today’s celebration also marks the conclusion of Mes Morado (Purple Month), during which our communities have expressed their faith and devotion to the Lord of Miracles through celebrations and processions throughout our Diocese of Palm Beach.
On this Solemnity of All Saints, the Gospel of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12a) reminds us that we are all called to holiness and that true happiness is found in humility, mercy, and the pursuit of peace. May our devotion to the Lord of Miracles inspire us to live these teachings each day!
This year, we have another special reason to rejoice: we have an American and Peruvian Pope! Our beloved Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, is preparing for his upcoming Apostolic Journey to Latin America, especially his beloved Peru. I invite everyone to join me in praying for this historic occasion for the Church in the Americas and for its abundant spiritual fruits.
My heartfelt gratitude to the Very Reverend Father Ducasse François, V.E., Pastor of St. Juliana and Episcopal Vicar for Clergy; Father Pilar Maximinio Matos Sánchez, Parochial Vicar; and Deacons Miguel Muñoz and Martin Serraes for their pastoral service.
I am especially grateful to Deacon Mario Neyra and the entire organizing committee of the Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles for preparing this beautiful celebration with such love, dedication, and profound devotion.
May the Lord of Miracles continue to bless the beloved people of Peru, our families, and our entire diocesan Church.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic plane crash that occurred this afternoon along Military Trail in West Palm Beach, claiming the lives of nine people.
My heart and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this heartbreaking tragedy. I also hold in prayer the residents and families affected by this devastating accident.
I am especially grateful to our firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and all first responders for their dedicated service during this difficult time.
Tomorrow, as we commemorate All Souls’ Day, I will offer the 10:00 a.m. Memorial Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach for the eternal rest of all nine victims of this tragedy, asking our merciful Lord to welcome them into His heavenly Kingdom and to bring comfort and strength to their grieving families.
I invite all the faithful of our @DiocesePB to unite with me in prayer during this time of sorrow.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

This made my eyes leak
Mel Gibson paid Robert Downey Jr.'s insurance bond when no insurer would cover him. Eight years later, with Gibson's own career in ruins, Downey asked Hollywood to forgive him.
In 2003, Downey was coming off years of drug arrests, and no insurance company would cover him on a film set. Gibson, a producer on The Singing Detective, covered the insurance bond himself so Downey could play the lead.
Downey has said Gibson also told him not to give up hope and urged him to find his faith.
The only thing Gibson asked in return was that someday Downey help the next guy.
In 2006, Gibson was arrested in Malibu, and his own career collapsed.
In October 2011, Downey received the American Cinematheque Award and asked Gibson to present it. In the video below, Downey tells the room why he chose him. About that old favor, he says Gibson "didn't imagine the next guy would be him."
Then he urged Hollywood to forgive his friend.
Gibson later told Esquire it was "a bold and generous and kind gesture."
Did Downey owe Gibson that speech, or was it a risk nobody else in Hollywood was willing to take?

St Bernard of Clairvaux, Sermon 2, for the Solemnity of All Saints:
The glorious head will appear, and with him his glorified members will shine in splendour, when clearly he forms this lowly body anew, configured to the glory of the head, which is he himself.

Yesterday marked a historic and joyous occasion for the Catholic Church as five Franciscan missionaries, known as the Georgia Martyrs, were beatified during a special Mass in Savannah, Georgia.
Blessed Pedro de Corpa and his four companions — Blas Rodríguez, Miguel de Añon, Antonio de Badajóz and Francisco de Veráscola — gave their lives in witness to Christ and the Catholic faith in 1597. Their courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the Gospel continue to inspire the faithful more than four centuries later.
The historic celebration was presided over by Cardinal Frank Leo, Archdiocese of Toronto, serving as the representative of our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.
I am grateful to Father Michael McNally, who attended this beautiful celebration on my behalf, representing the Diocese of Palm Beach as we joined the universal Church in honoring these newly beatified martyrs.
May their extraordinary witness inspire each of us to live our faith with courage, conviction and love.
Blessed Pedro de Corpa and Companions, pray for us!

The Catholic Church teaches that surrogacy is gravely immoral; but the stories of surrogate mothers have spurned larger conversation about the moral, legal, and ethical concerns over turning a child into a business transaction. @imrosellereyes speaks to one of those mothers.

🕊️ Today we mark All Saints’ Day: the Church honours all the saints, both known and unknown.
✨ This solemnity reminds us that holiness is a calling for everyone, and that many witnesses have already paved the way.
🕯️ At Notre-Dame de Paris, this commemoration is also observed through the veneration of the relics, kept in the reliquary cabinet in the south transept.
✝️ There we find relics from the Passion of Christ, from the holy apostles and evangelists, and from holy martyrs, including Saint Stephen, the first among them. But there are also relics of saints who have left their mark on the history of Paris, such as Saint Geneviève and Saint Louis, and many other saints for whom the Church gives thanks for their lives offered to God.

I was truly saddened to learn of the death of the great Patrick Stewart. Though he’s best known for playing Captain Picard on Star Trek, I really savored him as an interpreter of Shakespeare.
One of my favorite of his performances was as Enobarbus in a production of Antony and Cleopatra. But I also loved him as Macbeth in a modern adaptation of the Scottish Play and as King Claudius in Hamlet.
One of the very few bright spots during the awful Covid period was Stewart’s daily presentation of a Shakespeare sonnet from his back garden in Los Angeles.
Dare I admit too that I loved his many appearances on Family Guy and as the narrator of the Ted movies?
God rest you, Patrick Stewart, and “may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
