Arvell Reese might already be the most important piece of this Giants defense. And he's 21 years old. No. 5 overall pick. Rookie linebacker. He's played EVERY single defensive snap in every game but one. Through 7 games: 56 tackles, 5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, an INT, 4 passes defensed and a fumble recovery. 7+ tackles in 5 of 7 games. That's a 136-tackle pace. Week 4 against Arizona was the coming-out party. 9 solo tackles, 3 PDs and his first career pick. He was named Rookie AND Defensive Player of the Week. No Giants rookie since 1994 had put up that line in a game. And the pass rush is waking up. Zero sacks his first 4 games, 1.5 in his last 3. Houston ran for 84 yards on 25 carries in our OT win. Reese had 7 tackles, a TFL and a half sack in that one. Harbaugh said it himself: the kid is "taking off." I think we finally hit on a top 5 pick.
