What makes this festival special to you? 💗: It is an event where many filmmakers from around the world gather in one place. So, it’s a place where you can discover a wide variety of films and hear stories about those movies. Q: You have been on a long journey with Nespresso. Is there an unforgettable moment that impressed you? 💗: Honestly, there are so many memorable moments. I remember going to Cannes, and also experiencing grand concepts in Mexico. [BIFF Actors’ House: Kim Goeun] MC: Winning the award itself is one thing, but your acceptance speech was also quite a hot topic. Many people still remember it vividly. I actually wrote it down today: ‘I will work harder so that you can continue to look for new faces in me, so please look out for me even more in the future.’ Hearing that in real time was really interesting because it felt not like a typical speech from a Grand Prize (Daesang) winner, but like a speech from a newcomer winning Best New Actress. Back then, you mentioned that you’ve never taken doing a project for granted. Looking back, you’ve been working almost continuously without rest. At what point in your acting career did you realize, ‘What I’m doing isn't something to take for granted’? I was quite curious about that. Kim Goeun: Well, I’ve always thought that nothing in this world should be taken for granted. So, regarding all the opportunities given to me right now, it’s not as if they will continue to be given to me forever. I have to perform well, and as actors, we constantly have to prove ourselves through our work. That proof becomes the stepping stone that enables us to take on the next project. I’ve always thought and worked with that mindset, and even now, nothing has changed. I want to keep showing new sides of myself, and I believe there’s still a lot left inside me to show. But people need to stay curious about me for me to be able to show those sides.
