This is a significant escalation by the NUJ. All members in the BBC - both across the wider UK and the world will vote.
There are NUJ members facing compulsory redundancy in the World Service, the News Channel, and across England here at BBC Local. I am one of them.
🚨#NUJ starts formal ballot for industrial action over compulsory redundancies at the BBC.

Our response to National World's email to all editorial staff today. It's time for them to listen to the concerns of ordinary journalists and take action over the insidious pay issues that are a stain on the company's reputation

The #NUJBBCStrike may have come to an end, but our campaigning continues ✊
#BBC journalists have demonstrated their opposition to cruel local radio cuts across England. The BBC must halt plans & show it values its presenters and listeners.

Solidarity with the @BBCLeeds
@BBC @NUJ_leeds members in strike today.
I don't watch EastEnders, Poldark or any of that stuff; local radio is the only reason I happily pay the licence fee.
@BBC needs to rethink and rethink fast.

What does ‘public service’ in the #BBC’s public service remit actually mean? asks @cj_dinenage. Well the Minister is right to think many are concerned about cuts to local radio services – #NUJ strike action begins at 11am today, as journalists oppose these ill-thought changes.

Not only do @bbcintroducing support and promote new artists, they also train the future workers of the radio industry. Regional diversity is integral to balance within the industry. Removing local shows, presents less opportunities for local voices to break through nationally.

BBC weatherman on @BBCBreakfast says for more info on flood warnings tune to local radio. But if BBC axes all local programmes (except sport) on weekends as planned then that will leave listeners drowning in silence about what’s going on their doorstep.
