The movie kept falling apart, then the strike hit, so he never really stopped preparing. He turned 40 on a beach in Greece reading The Art of the Deal. Near the shoot, he'd wake up with Trump interviews in his headphones while he brushed his teeth, then lock himself in a room for eight hours a day. He approached it like learning an instrument and tested the voice in public to see if people noticed.
He calls it psychotic. Every night he went to bed thinking it was a mistake and wondering how they'd pull it off.
