⚠️ In Africa and Asia, having fair skin is often associated with higher status, privilege and beauty.
In their quest to reduce the melanin in their skin, many turn to unregulated creams and skin-whitening jabs. But these can be dangerous, with the @WHO warning they pose a "global health problem".
@AFP investigated some of the injections being sold in West Africa, and found they contained no bleaching agent.
