A packed room at #GLOBE's final conference here at @IBEI. Our expert panel discusses “The Future of #GlobalGovernance & the #EU” with a great line-up of speakers 🧵
Joining from @BinusResearch, Indonesia, @sbelapertiwi speaks to the multiple Asian perspectives on #GlobalGovernance & the #EU's therein. She also points out issues related to the Western-centric nature of #GlobalGovernance, both as a political goal & as an #IR research concept.
So what does this all mean for the #EU and its pursuit of #strategicautonomy? @axelmarx1 from the @LeuvenGGS translates the #GLOBE findings into #EU-relevant policy implications: Leverage the #BrusselsEffect to pursue intl. compliance, standard-setting power, & norm diffusion.
From a practitioner's perspective: Antoni Estevadeordal reflects on #GLOBE findings regarding development finance. Notably, the breakdown of the sector's Bretton Woods-based hierarchical architecture leads to a more horizontal, networked system. Plus: less silos than in the past.
Next, @MaryVdd (@EsadeGeo) takes the audience through the growing institutional complexities of #globalgovernance, looking specifically at non-traditional IOs and what their rise implies for future research agendas.
