The contrast between Milan's approach in Serie A and the Europa League is becoming increasingly obvious, and I think I understand why.
Amorim said he learned from his time at Manchester United, and I believe we're seeing those lessons influence his decisions at Milan.
One of the biggest lessons may be this: losing a Europa League or Champions League final doesn't usually cost a coach his job, but failing to qualify a top club for the Champions League through the league often does.
People no longer talk about Amorim taking a struggling Manchester United side he inherited to the Europa League final. What they remember is that the team finished 15th in the Premier League. Football fans has a short memory.
That's why I don't think it's a coincidence that Milan's strongest focus appears to be Serie A. Securing Champions League football next season is the foundation for everything else, financially, competitively and in terms of the club's long-term project.
Until Milan have the squad depth to genuinely compete on every front, I have no problem with Amorim prioritising the league.
For me, Champions League qualification is worth more than gambling everything on the Europa League.
