I'm now using the #WebApplication feature of @gnomeweb (epiphany-browser) and it works fine. Steps to reproduce:
1) Uninstall Whatsie
2) Open Gnome Web and go to web.whatsapp.com
3) Select 'Install Site as Web Application' from the burger menu
4) I named it #Whatsie ;-)

But with this setup, you should not compare the output of @gnomeweb with the blurry one from @firefox on the #HighRes screen. This is one of the points, why @gnome application built with @GTKtoolkit are awesome. Btw Gnome Web (#Epiphany) uses @WebKitGTK engine. #wayland

This release of @gstreamer which includes important fixes needed by the Media Source Extensions (MSE) 🎬 improvements included in WebKitGTK+ 2.22.2 and @WPEWebKit 2.22.0
Additionally, even when using WebKitGTK+ 2.22.2, some patches will be needed in @gstreamer for WebM streams. This is being worked on as well — stay tuned for further announcement in this regard 📻
