Paul Molitor reveals how switching to a "No-Stride" hitting approach transformed his career and solved his struggles with two strikes. "I didn't have the plate discipline and I was kind of a panicky two-strike hitter. I get to two strikes and I'd start expanding, especially on sliders and splits and change-ups." "So I just tried somehow to figure out a way where I could see the ball a little longer. So I just kind of spread out, got a little bit more flat-footed, trusted my hands, and all of a sudden I started doing at least a little better job of keeping the ball in play." "And then I start just playing with that a little bit and I got so comfortable not striding that instead of just doing it with two strikes, I did it all the time."

So this is a great illustration by Vogie to Yelich. One command while in the cage….DOWN….but watch the hand movement to him once he comes out. Under, under, under…..DOWN! Immediately gets him on plane with just one mental cue. Through the wall, not over it! Barrels….good stuff.

Interesting observation. The Brewers (almost without exception), seemed to stay within the team colors for all their added gear. There’s a reason it’s called a UNIFORM. In baseball, your cleats, batting gloves, sliding mitts, elbow guards, and sleeves should reflect your TEAM colors, not draw attention to yourself. The name on the front matters more than the name on the back. Look like a team. Play like a team. Win as a team. WE over ME.

Ken Griffey Jr. never thought about pulling the ball. Line up with the pitcher's chest and keep the hands inside ⚾

The #1 move I talk to hitters the most about (and 1 good way to train it👇🏼) They start on time but never actually get loaded to GO. They think they’re ready. They’re not. So they start earlier next time. Same problem. —— This is a conversation I have with almost every hitter. When is the right time for you? - Based on your load style - Based on how long your load takes - Based on the pitcher’s velo, windup, or slide step —— If that’s you, try a “loaded at release” type load. Bobby Witt. Judge. Get your hip and elbow loaded early. Then stride with it ready to fire. “The pitcher is up there for 20 seconds telling you to get ready. Shame on you if you’re not ready to swing.” ____ If I have you in the cage, what I’ll do is have you get into a no stride position, get ready to swing and I stand there for 1-4 seconds… Holding my hand out over the plate ready to snap my fingers. When I snap, you swing. Do that 4-5x. You get the quickness, readiness feeling. Then we go back to stride with moving ball and you’re trying to time up that same GO move with the ball With your foot up in the air and the GO will make the foot go down. Not foot down then swing. That typically kills quickness. This works 95% of the time I’d say! —— > Send this to a hitter who need better load timing > And make sure you’re following, I help hitters hit better in game

Somewhere this morning, there's a high school baseball player getting ready for school. He's checked his phone a hundred times this week, hoping a college coach might reach out. Nothing. No offers. No big recruiting headlines. No guarantees that any of this will work out. But after school today, he'll head right back to the cage, the weight room, or the field. Because he still believes. And maybe that's the part of this game we don't celebrate enough. The kids who keep showing up when the world hasn't given them a single reason to believe they're next. If that's you, keep going. Your story is still being written. ⚾️

How to stay down on the ball (besides just being an absolute savage) The med ball inside back leg. It’s in most of my hitters’ programs right now. What it does for you: - Your chest stays over the plate - Your lower half stays low and in the ground - You can reach the pitch on the outer third pitches - Your swing keeps working toward the opposite-field gap If you roll over on away pitches or stand up away from the ball, add this to your routine - And make sure you’re following, I help hitters hit better in game.

Behind it and refusing to pull off. Been studying Bauers lately, and he’s quickly become one of my favorite hitters to watch. Maintains his hinge and spacing so well. Almost walked away from baseball. Now look at him. 🔥

don't let anybody tell you what you can or can't be. Perfect Game told me I was an above-average varsity player. I ended up being a top 100 mlb draft pick a few years later. Just focus on being the best at getting better. Run your race. People's opinions don't mean sh*t.

I asked an MLB player what he wishes he knew earlier about hitting. “Feel-good BP is backwards. You’re wanting to feel good when it doesn’t matter and you have a false sense of 'being ready'" "Get your routine in. Then challenge yourself in the box every single day." "Nobody’s ever gotten a hit that counts in a cage." "All those barrels off a 47 mph fastball stay there. What comes with you is how you trained your eyes, your decisions, and your path at game speed.”

Recruiting can change in a heartbeat. A coach leaves. A commit decommits. A roster spot opens up. A kid they loved goes somewhere else. A program that told you they were full suddenly needs your position. That’s why you keep getting better, keep communicating, and keep your options open.

When I was a sophomore, I got a letter from a D1 baseball program. It was one of those generic recruiting letters with a questionnaire inside. Back then, you actually filled it out with a pen and mailed it back… God, I’m old. Anyways. There was a section for “coach’s comments,” so I asked my high school coach if he’d fill it out for me. He handed it right back. “You’re not good enough to play D1.” I eventually earned a scholarship to play Division I baseball. It took two summers of living 2 hours away from home to play summer ball and two years at a JUCO to get there. But I got there. People are going to have opinions about what you can and can’t do. You can let those opinions hold you back. Or you can let them push you.

Tony Gwynn loved tee work built around staying inside the ball and driving it the other way through the 5.5 hole. There are plenty of instructional clips of him teaching that approach, even though this exact session isn't dated. The drill looks simple because it is. Gwynn's genius was doing simple bat-control work with a level of precision that eventually produced eight batting titles.
