Utah State has landed 2027 four-star Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame wing King Rachal (6-7, 185) over Oregon, SDSU and USC. He becomes USU’s new highest-rated commit ever (47th at 247). Six months in Logan, and Ben Jacobson is flirting with the top prep class in program history

Utah State has landed Lone Peak four-star wing Crew Fotheringham (6-8, 180) over Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Utah. He’s the highest-rated commit in program history (No. 96 in c/o 2027), joining three-star G William Powers in what is shaping up to be a monster prep class for USU

A lot to like about Utah State’s newest transfer AJ Bates. Best known for his playmaking (he had 8+ assists in 9 games last season), but he can also heat up quickly as a scorer. He closed his LA Tech career with 27, 29 and 34-point performances in March.

Full (and free) story on Utah State hiring Northern Iowa's Ben Jacobson for @TheAthletic.
A note for Aggies fans: Per source, California's Mark Madsen was never seriously considered. Speculation that crowded social media were all simply rumors.

Initial Thoughts:
- The Aggies didn’t need to roll the dice on a young, mostly unproven coach. They had four times in a row. Sooner or later the luck was going to run out. This shows you where the program is right now. This is a guy who has won titles, been to the Sweet 16, and was in the tourney just this past year.
- Northern Iowa was going to (and may still yet) build a statue of Ben Jacobson. They loooove him there. For him to leave shows where USU has elevated itself.
- According to his contract (via @KcSmurthwaite) $0 buyout. A good portion of the Calhoun money now can be used for player retention and acquisition.
- No offense to Joe Shmuckatelli from Mendon, but look at what the national media is saying about this hire. Home run after home run.
Big time get for the Ags.

Utah State is entering the Round of 32 stripped of the sport's markers of power. Coach Jerrod Calhoun's roster sits at $2.4 million, well short of what it'd take to "go really deep."
Yet, here the Aggies are, outlasting programs with fuller pockets.
How?
