None of you know the difference between critique and criticism and that's the root of the issue
sen@dalsearieOct 26
fanfiction is a form of writing, which means it’s a form of art, whether it wants to be considered as such or not; should art/writing be subject to critique only when it’s serious and being sold? how can you create something and then refuse to have it discussed, judged or valued?

art school day one lesson: critique is consensual and it NEVER focuses solely on the negative. critique is done for the benefit of the artist, with their consent, it is not spouting your personal opinions without permission. you do not know anything about critique.

fanfic is “uncritiquable” [sic] in the way you shouldn’t go up to someone who is knitting a scarf for their friend to be like “ugh that stitch is so overused. craft crisis much?”

this mass psychosis that fanfic is an uncritiquable art form is a symptom of the literacy crisis don’t ask me how i just feel it

I am advising people as kindly as possible to step away from giving unsolicited advice to fic writers who are criticized for literally every single thing lately
