$GOOGL free cash flow was negative $8.9 billion, $3 billion worse than in Q2, though magnified by working capital movements. Still, it retains best cash generation profiles among hyperscalers, coming closest to funding itself.
Culprits for margin downside? $GOOGL is stepping up pace of hiring - headcount hit 204,757 up 3% QoQ & +8% YoY, fastest since Q4 2023, before it slammed brakes. Plus pressure on margin from surging capex & 50% higher depreciation.
