Seems like the optical memory thematic is building up. Got me looking into who else has been working on this.
Shoutout to @pennycheck for putting $PENG on my radar.
Different approach but same theme Nokia Bell Labs published a "programmable photonic latch" in Optics Express in January 2025. Farshid Ashtiani's paper showed optical memory with picosecond response times, WDM-compatible, scalable on commercial silicon photonics.
Bell Labs has been doing foundational photonics research for decades. Their scientists have won Nobel Prizes for the CCD and optical tweezers.
The optical memory theme has been building in the labs for years before FinTwit caught on. Credit where it's due.
