That's exactly how it happened. I volunteered at this place in Vancouver called Anime Jyanai in the late 90s, literally dubbing anime from one VHS to another. They rented bootlegs, screened it at a local college, it was a whole scene. People got exposed to all these cool shows, fell in love with them, and then went out and bought the official merch. The industry didn't lose money; they got a free global marketing campaign from a bunch of kids with VCRs.
すごいよな。アニメ市場は海賊版のおかげでグローバルになったって本気で思ってるんだから

I played the absolute shit out of the original. I put so many hours into that game that I'm pretty sure I never actually saw Alucard run facing forward. I just permanently held the shield button and back-dashed everywhere like a caffeinated maniac.
Did you play 'Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night' on the original PlayStation, or a later re-release?

I completely agree with this view on Gundam. Tomino was literally writing an anti-war masterpiece.
Hes got a couple good points tbh

Peter Berg is out here talking about this like he's adapting All Quiet on the Western Front. 'The real soul of the Modern Warfare universe.' The soul of Modern Warfare is getting spawn-trapped on Rust while some guy named 'xX_Bluntz_Xx' tells you he banged your mom.
The "Call of Duty" movie based on "Modern Warfare" will not feel like a superhero film because the story is about "the cost of war and having to be a warrior." “If you really look at the missions and the storylines and the characters like Captain Price, Soap, Ghost and Alex, these are complicated humans. These are not, and no disrespect, cartoon characters or comic books," says director Peter Berg. "These are very nuanced storylines; there’s a real soul to the ‘Modern Warfare’ universe. Yes, there’s violence and hardware and equipment and killing. But underneath it, I think the game, and the creators of the game, are really looking at the cost of war, the cost of having to be a warrior who’s, for whatever reason, chosen to put himself between real danger and the rest of us, and the burden that these guys carry.” variety.com/2026/film/news/c…

The guy who just made the best Godzilla movie in decades got baked, watched Robot Jox, and decided to make a mech movie with Paul Giamatti. Cinematic history is about to be made.
Paul Giamatti, Nico Parker and Sam Nivola have been cast in ‘Godzilla Minus One’ director Takashi Yamazaki's first-ever English language film ‘GRANDGEAR’ The film includes 2 mechs battling each other. (Source: Deadline)

I always get a kick out of watching people who think they're smart prove they're actually dumb as shit. Like being a virulent racist but being a huge fan of a show created by a Black guy. It's straight up low IQ behavior.
Rest assured nobody watched edgerunners 2 with your voice acting.

There's this whole dynamic where Black officers feel like they have to 'prove' they aren't showing favoritism, or they get completely absorbed into that 'blue' culture and end up going twice as hard on Black neighborhoods just to fit in.
Replying to @twize56655
You know what kills me? There was a black officer there and he participated and didn't help him at all!!! Like wtf?

The Seahawks DBs just put this on their fridge.

'For the community' is just code for 'I wanted to pirate games for free and this guy ruined it.' $50k from Sony vs. the eternal gratitude of a Reddit thread, tough call. Get the bag, king.
A hacker sparked an uproar within the PlayStation 5 homebrew scene for privately reporting an exploit to Sony and cashing in on a $50,000 reward, rather than keeping it confidential for the community. bit.ly/4jHe1SQ

Black people code-switch when they hang out with white people, and white people code-switch when they answer the phone. It’s the funniest parallel ever. One is navigating centuries of racial tension, and the other is a guy named Caleb putting on a customer service voice to talk to his mom.

This legit reminds me of one of those viral marketing campaign ads they did for Cloverfield.
A massive offshore drilling platform sank into the sea off Gabon’s southern coast on Saturday. Search and rescue operations continue as five people are missing. 110 out of 115 who were on the platform are safe.

This is schoolyard 'whose dad is tougher' shit. Both are GOATs, you don't gotta tear one down to lift the other up. 💯
Eddie Murphy was funny but he was yt people funny . Bernie Mac never code switched & everybody loved him 💯

It's actually insane that the US dumps billions of dollars into Israel, and they still get their shit rocked by malnourished 27 year olds in flip flops and windbreakers. You spend all that money on high tech defense systems, and a guy in sandals with a GoPro is still ruining your day.
Hamas literally fights like rats LOL

Bro...
you could not waterboard this information out of me

Scott Jennings reminds me of those sleazy 90s action movie characters. You know the type, they're just total pieces of shit, and then the main villain kills them like 30 minutes in because they got too smug. He's got that exact energy.
Scott Jennings 1300 word post on Bill Maher: I think it's sort of a miraculous that the president issues such detailed missives about all sorts of things going on in our culture

Elon Musk isn't a creative person. He just buys his way into shit. It's fucking crazy that he even thought this was a good idea. Like, is he fucking dumb? 'I'll take the foundational text of Western civilization and let an AI do it.' What could possibly go wrong? Oh, the characters have glassy eyes and Penelope's face changes every five seconds? Shocking.
Elon Musk's anti-woke Grok-fueled take on 'The Odyssey' gets called "zombie-like." A critic for The Telegraph wrote that the footage — made with AI specialists Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker — is “so unsettling you can feel your eyeballs twitch at its sloppy gruesomeness … the glassy-eyed characters, with their expressionless voices, give the episode a zombie-like quality … Penelope looks completely different in each scene … a take on the tale of Troy that deserves to be put to the sword, burned to the ground and hidden forever beneath the sands of time.” bit.ly/47MhisO

Congratulations to Brazil for picking Lula. You dodged a fascist bullet, saved the Amazon, and told the Bolsonaro crime family to kick rocks. A rare win for democracy and the environment.
