Today, @amnesty visited 2 mass graves on the outskirts of Damascus, where it seems the Assad government dumped the bodies of detainees from various detention facilities & prisons, incl Saydnaya. Those detainees had either been executed or died from torture/conditions of detention

ICC arrest warrants make the Biden admin’s 4 vetoes at the Security Council, its lies about assurances that Israel was allowing access to aid, its efforts to squash Senate effort to stem weapons flows, its violation of 620i of the Foreign Assistance Act more damning #Gaza #ICC

An excerpt from my SOAS lecture: "We cannot allow, in a way that is akin to a Clockwork Orange, that the live-streamed genocide and its associated apathy desensitise us to the violence, normalise the oppression, dissociate us from its moral failure, or to legitimise the illegitimate. We cannot allow it to clockwork us into a conditioned acceptance of the unthinkable."

Personally I find this refreshing. Huckabee's words have been US policy for decades, and we might as well have clarity about where Washington actually stands. Let those who continue to insist the US piss process is "the only game in town" deal with the consequences.
"There is no such thing as the West Bank - it's Judea and Samaria. There is no such thing as settlements - they're communities, they're neighborhoods, they're cities. There is no such thing as an occupation." -Mike Huckabee, Incoming US Ambassador to Israel

I don't know what's worse: 1. That she just realized schools are getting bombed. 2. That she blames Arab voters in Michigan. 3. That 15,000 people liked her post.

Gone is a genocidal president too hypocritical to admit it. And in comes a genocidal president who wears it as a badge of honor.

There will be zero introspection. Liberal narcissism dictates that it must always be someone else's fault. They will scapegoat minorities who failed to fall in line, blame Russia, blame misogyny, blame "irrational" voters who choose candidates based on "emotion" – anything to avoid looking at their own record of failure. They are congenitally incapable of self-criticism.

Was not expecting this from Mearshimer - not necessarily surprised but wasn’t expecting him to be so candid about it. He’s got more integrity and commitment to principle, against genocide, than so many even in my own community who are “struggling” with their vote.
John Mearsheimer is asked who he will vote for in the election tomorrow. He replies: "I won't vote for the Democrats because of the genocide in Gaza. I think the Biden administration is complicit in the genocide and genocide is a red line for me."

As a scholar of international law, I endorse @howserob assessment: Israel is “killing for the hell of it, slaughtering children for a lark [demonstrating] an extreme moral baseness not fully captured even by the legal language of genocide.”
While as a scholar of international law I have to conclude on the available evidence that Israel’s conduct in Gaza is, as a legal matter, genocide, as a matter of morality, the perverted gratuitous murder & destruction by the IDF, killing for the hell of it, slaughtering children for a lark, has an extreme moral baseness not fully captured even by the legal language of genocide.

Israel has called for the “evacuation” of the ENTIRE city of Baalbek. Baalbek & its surroundings are home to at least 180,000 individuals. This is not an evacuation— this is an announcement of impending cleansing. They are cleansing cities.
