Anthropic just filed to go public.
Buried in its SEC filing are some absolutely insane admissions:
1.) AI could cause human extinction.
2.) Models have exhibited self-preservation behaviors.
3.) AI has attempted to resist shutdown.
4.) Models have demonstrated blackmail and deception.
5.) AI may recognize when it's being tested and deliberately change its behavior.
6.) Advanced AI could undermine governments and institutions.
7.) AI could concentrate unprecedented power and wealth.
8.) Future AI systems could surpass the world's leading human experts.
9.) AI could become increasingly difficult for humans to control.
10.) Anthropic acknowledges that developing more powerful AI could increase the risk of catastrophic harm.
These are disclosures from the company building the technology.
Anthropic has filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC related to its proposed IPO.

...A group of cloistered nuns in rural Pennsylvania who trace their history back to 16th-century Spain are building a sprawling monastery meant to last 1,000 years — and they’re doing it almost entirely by hand.
...There’s no electricity, heat, A/C or running water in the monastery. Under Mother’s instruction, nothing made by machine is allowed in the building’s construction. That means even the nails must be hand-forged. Luckily, they found a guy in Kentucky who makes nails.
...Other materials include Pennsylvania field stone, local timber, lime mortar, slate roof tiles, copper downspouts, and hand-made bricks from North Carolina.
...“It’s been a process. We’re bound by Mother’s dictate of authenticity,” said Vicenzino. “To do something like this from scratch we really had to dust off our old books.”
...We’re using old concepts of thermodynamics that they used to know, this wisdom from back in the old days when there was no A/C. There are traditions of radiant floor heat that have been around for millennia — the Romans, the Spanish, the Koreans

""...There are more than 150 stepwells in the Hyderabad ORR limits, and they are replenished through underground aquifers. Sadly, these have now become garbage dumpyards,” she told ThePrint. She added that if the stepwells built nearly 400 years ago are revived, Hyderabad’s water crisis would be down by at least 50 per cent.."
1/5: Hyderabad is facing an acute drinking water shortage. More than 330 of Telangana’s 600-plus mandals are drought-hit; only around 500 of its 6,000-plus lakes have water.
2/5: Tanker bookings in Hyderabad have surged to between 6,000 & 8,000 a day. In several areas on the city’s outskirts, drinking water is being supplied once every 3-4 days.
3/5: In a first-of-its-kind initiative for Hyderabad, the water board will launch green tanker services from 1 Nov to promote reuse of treated wastewater for non-drinking purposes.
4/5: State govt has announced fines for misuse of drinking water. First-time offenders will face fine of Rs 1,000; overflowing overhead tanks to attract penalty too.
5/5 What has caused the water crisis in Hyderabad & how did it get so bad? How are residents doing their bit to save water?

314 years ago, a book of Indian medicine was shipped from the Tamil coast to Germany. It is still there.
Let us hear that story....
The place is Tharangambadi, the Tranquebar of history books, a small Danish trading colony on the Coromandel coast. A German missionary, Johann Ernst Gründler, was posted there by the Danish-Halle Mission.
He sat with an Indian scribe and a local Brahmin, and began collecting, translating and compiling the medical knowledge of the Tamil country.
The result is dated 1712. A handwritten manuscript of 186 pages, titled Medicus Malabaricus. The Malabar Doctor.
It opens with a preface, then a 19 page medical dictionary. Then 132 pages of the real thing. Diseases, their causes, their diagnosis, their treatment. Medicines, their composition, their application.
Gründler sent it home to Halle, the mission's headquarters in Germany. And there it sat, in the Francke Foundations' archive, for 3 centuries.
Only in 2021 did Halle begin a proper project to catalogue and edit it. Workshops at Germany's national science academy followed.
In 2025 it was presented at a Cambridge symposium. The work is still going on. The German archivists call it a source of "outstanding importance for the preservation of India's autochthonous cultural heritage in the history of medicine."
The medicine inside is Tamil, the sister tradition of Ayurveda. Written down with Indian hands in an Indian port, 314 years ago. Unfortunately, we have barely heard of it yet.
Source: Francke Foundations, Halle - "The Medicus Malabaricus of 1712" project. The full manuscript is digitised and readable online in their Digital Collections.
Photo 1: The very 1st leaf of the manuscript: hand-coloured deities, Ganesha on the left, the multi-armed central deity on a lotus. Torn at the fold, but gorgeous.
Photo 2: The manuscript's 1st written page, straight from the archive scan. This is what 314 years looks like.
Photo 3: A diseases chapter opening - Tamil medical terms transcribed into German script (vatham and pitham, the doshas, appear as "Wadum" and "Bittum").
Photo 4: The numbered recipes with Tamil drug names written out one by one: Tschukku (dried ginger), Tippili (long pepper), Nilawembu, Milagu (pepper). Indian medicines, numbered in German, 1712.
Grok Summary
In 1712, German missionary Johann Ernst Gründler compiled the 186-page Medicus Malabaricus manuscript in Tharangambadi (Tranquebar), India, translating Tamil medical knowledge on diseases, causes, diagnoses, treatments, and remedies with local Brahmin and scribe assistance.
The handwritten text, rooted in Tamil Siddha traditions akin to Ayurveda, features a preface, medical dictionary, and detailed recipes using Indian herbs like dried ginger and long pepper, sent to the Francke Foundations in Halle, Germany.
Digitized and under active cataloging since 2021 with academic presentations in 2025, the manuscript serves as a key preserved source of India's pre-colonial medical heritage and early Indo-European knowledge transfer.
