This data from Mythic Society is a great tool to combat the nonsense that is often posted on X, saying Karnataka was all "Jaina faith" and other faiths usurped it due to some "conspiracy".
Since I can post only 4 images in one post, let's look at the data in the 4 images - corresponding to 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th centuries - Pre-Hoysala times.
Here are the cumulative numbers, by what is indicated in the invocatory verses:
4th C - > 3 Shaiva, 1 Vaishnava, 1 Jaina
6th C -> 8 Shaiva , 7 Vaishnava, 2 Jaina
8th C -> 38 Shaiva, 24 Vaishnava, 39 Jaina
10th C -> 160 Shaiva, 57 Vaishnava, 140 Jaina
So where is the "all Jaina" period in the history of Karnataka? Don't get me wrong. Jainas were part of the Karnataka population for a long time, but the area was NEVER EXCLUSIVELY Jaina, as it is made out to be by some handles here.
How does it follow in later centuries? See the reply.
Karnataka's gods and faiths, on its stones, century by century. Nearly 8,000 dated inscriptions from every district of Karnataka, 4th to 19th century, and over 3,000 more not yet dated. Shiva is named most, then Vishnu, the Jinas and the Goddess. Watch them spread across the state in the video, and see the numbers in the flyer. Explore every stone: nakshe.mythicsociety.org

The trees have all the time in the world to grow. It is us who keep wanting them to grow faster and fruit faster.

The distant hills in the background, the dark monsoon clouds, the scenic agricultural landscape consisting of lovely paddy fields and coconut groves add the beauty to a colourful freight rake being hauled by two WDG-6 locomotives - at Hariharapura village near Arsikere station, in the jurisdiction of @DrmMys in @SWRRLY! Hoysala temples, history, architecture aficionados, please save this
Thank you @hamsanandi sir. Have visited some places on this list and found them wonderful. Will plan other trips when I can and this list helps 🙏
I just gave this 3day- 2 night travel plan to a friend. Sharing for those who may want to see some #Hoysala temples , well known and not so well known!
Assuming you do a 3 day 2 nights trip from Bengaluru, with one night at Mysuru and one night at Hasana , reaching Bengaluru on the third evening , you can do a fab trip:
Day 1
1) From bengaluru on the way to Mysuru , at Madduru there are 2 beautiful temples - semi Hoysala with Chola/Vijayanagara additions
2) Just before Mandya at Boodanuru are 2 nice small but extremely visitable Hoysala temples
3) Then go to Somanathapura
4) From there go to Tirumakudalu Narasipura - 2 temples , one ( Agastyeshwara) recently gone through jeernoddhara is again a composite of Hoysala, Chola Vijayanagara styles . Also the serene atmosphere of Sangama of Kaveri and Kapila. Nice sight in the evening
5) If time permits you can take the darshsna of Nanjundeshwara at Nanjanagudu before you go to Mysuru for overnight stay
Day 2: ( Mys to Hasana circuit)
1) Leave Mysuru in the morning , first stop Gopalakrishna temple Kannambadi ( reconstructed)
2) Go to HosaHolalu beautiful Hoysala temple
3)Next stop beautiful Hoysala Brahmesgwara at Kikkeri
4) One of a kind pancha kuta shiva temple Govindana Halli , do not miss this !
5) Quick stop at Shanti grama , if time permits - 3 Hoysala temples, one reconstructed
6) last stop before going to Hasana -Bucheshwara ar Koravangala
Night stay in Hasana
Day 3-
1) Dodda gaddavalli Lakshmi temple, beautiful Chatushkuta temple
2) Beluru
3) Halebeedu - do not miss Kedareshwara temple and Jaina basadis at Basti Halli
End of the day- drive back to Bengaluru.
If you can spare one more night at Hasana , I can fill that with some more beautiful temples!

Nuggehalli is to the east of channarayaatna , a bit deviation. There are others that can be covered if kannambadi is skipped.
I gave him the 4th day option with Nuggehalli en route Bengaluru with few more temples covered 😁

If backwaters is not the preference, instead of Kannambadi, Nuggehalli is better option on the way to Hassan.

There is another beautiful temple not far from Halebidu with a gorgeous murti of Sri Krishna. I forget the name. :( Not well known but the murti is absolutely amazing.

On the contrary- It WAS a big deal for the people to uproot themselves and move lock, stock and barrel. Hence why this is mentioned as noteworthy. The people, in spite of the enormous inconvenience of moving home and losing livelihoods, were willing to do so for their beloved rulers.
It is true that the ultimate proof of how good a king’s rule is is the extent to which they rule the hearts of their citizens. This however, was not in lieu of the lands or realm, but as important as the area controlled.
This is exactly why, during the peace negotiations, the pandavas seek a mere 5 villages in exchange for peace. The villages symbolise something that should be inconsequential materially for the offerer- not five provinces, not five cities, but a meagre 5 villages!
Why go to epic times, even today, with ask the urbanisation, the heart of India is still on the villages
It's interesting that in both mahAbhArata and rAmAyaNa, the citizens of ayodhyA and hastinApura offer to accompany the exiled princes to the forest (araNya) - in ayodhyA kANDa and vana parva respectively
Given that the historical core of the epics is very much in the vedic period - it suggests that the "rAjA" was more of a leader than a monarch in those times, and the "prajA" often followed the rAjA. The rAja's sovereignty was not over a tract of land (bhUmi) but a jana (a collection of tribes).
These weren't extremely settled, sedentary populations, but populations that were on the move. It wasn't a big deal for them to wind up their settlements and move with their preferred leader.
But the epics are obviously a textual palimpsest, having been edited and redacted well into the mahAjanapada epoch and early classical times even.
So while they retain a v ancient memory of the vedic age mobility, the princes also reflect the norms of the classical times, by beseeching the citizens to return to their homes thus maintaining territorial stability
