Grateful to receive this little booklet on making a Holy Hour from the St. Paul Seminary, the place where Bl. Fulton Sheen made his lifelong commitment to pray before the Blessed Sacrament each day, and humbled I was asked to contribute alongside some holy folks who helped shape my faith.
This @fultonsheen doc just missed the mark - saying he finished his formation for the priesthood at CUA. He finished his priestly formation at The Saint Paul Seminary in 1919 and was ordained in September of that year.
Fun to read this on the bus with those 100+ SPS seminarians right after we finished midday prayer and a rosary.
"One spring evening in 1918, a young Fulton Sheen tried to enter the main chapel of St. Paul Seminary, where he was studying for the priesthood, but found it locked. After pacing outside for a while, Sheen made a decision that would profoundly affect his prayer life and that of many other Catholics: He resolved to make a Eucharistic Holy Hour each day."

Ahead of the Beatification of Fulton Sheen tomorrow, Pope Leo XIV asks the intercession of the soon-to-be Blessed to find news to spread the Gospel:
"Tomorrow in Saint Louis, Missouri, Venerable Fulton Sheen will be beatified. May the example and intercession of this holy bishop, known for his evangelizing work through the media, inspire many others likewise to find new ways of spreading the Gospel message with joyful enthusiasm."
This account makes me angry. But it’s not the account’s fault.
Your can of pumpkin puree is squash. Libby's grows and cans a tan, oblong variety from the butternut family and labels it 100% pure pumpkin.
That's legal, and FDA has said so in writing since 1938. Their compliance guide tells canners the agency will not take action against the word pumpkin on anything made from golden fleshed, sweet squash. Pumpkin has no real botanical definition and it's a word for certain types of squash.
The variety is called Dickinson, the same species as butternut, and Libby's grows it by the thousands of acres around its cannery in Morton, Illinois.
Libby's makes about 85% of the canned pumpkin in the country and doesn't hide any of this. Nestle's own harvest release names the variety and says outright that pumpkin is a form of squash.
Honestly, this is nuts.

Seconded. Don’t do this.
I would encourage parents who consider this to instead opt for therapy. nytimes.com/2026/09/13/well/…
I’m expecting @StarCraft to have trailers from the other two perspectives as well. If not, they’ve lost the plot.

That feeling when you turn on @ClassicalMPR and they announce a bassoon concerto.
Last night I made a new recipe for dinner, and all five of us around the table approved of it.
