Thinking about South African Airways Flight 295. Probably not a good idea to fly United if they are doing this.
Flying United? Your checked bags may have an unwelcome neighbor in the cargo hold. United has made thousands of shipments of war materiel to Israel, including parts for fighter jets and tanks — all onboard civilian passenger flights, according to a new report. interc.pt/4ilcq4u

The sound of people suddenly realizing HS2 was about capacity. It was about moving fast services to dedicated lines to free up more space for everything else, including freight, and local trains, which is good for everyone. Now we'll have 0.5 million more trucks.
Misery for motorists as Rishi Sunak’s HS2 cut set to add 500,000 lorries to traffic jams. The new line would have freed up capacity for more freight trains on the west coast mainline independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

This is not long-term transport planning; it's short-term expediency. Ripping up 25 yrs of transport policies - many enacted under previous Conservative Governments - in a desperate attempt to win votes is deeply retrograde and will damage communities, the country and the planet.
Today we’ve launched our Plan for Drivers – 30 new actions we are taking to help put motorists back in the driving seat. Read the full plan 👉 gov.uk/government/news/gover… #PlanForDrivers

Replying to @LNER
@LNER Hi! Got the alert to say HCB-GSY via KGX/LDS is available for 24/9 is now available but then it says on the journey page that the timetable is not yet finalised - think it's actually the @SouthernRailUK leg that is not confirmed yet.

How would the advance ticket work if Southern works mean I can't make it to KGX in time for the booked train? Would I be able to cancel the round trip if that was the case? Thanks!

As Katharine Birbalsingh steps down as the government social mobility tsar, a thread on girls, physics & the devastating effect of stereotypes. Girls are not put off physics because of "hard maths" (girls got more top grades than boys in A level maths in 2021 & 2022). Instead,

UPDATE Labour has announced £29bn to "freeze" the UK household energy price cap for 6mths from October The money stacks up against my calculations… …but extending the "freeze" for a year would take the cost to more like £73bn carbonbrief.org/analysis-why…
