Harmony Works was delighted to show over sixty fourth-year @GenEngShef students from the University of Sheffield around Canada House recently. Harmony Works is their case study for a new teaching module "Reuse of Existing Structures". 1/3
The reuse of existing structures is becoming increasingly common, as part of the construction industry's response to the Climate Emergency, and the module sets out to equip the engineers of the future with the skills needed to work on existing structures with competence... 2/3
...and confidence. Inspired by their visit, the students are now working up their design for the building.

We have been engaging with Children and Young People across many musical groups in the city about their hopes and dreams for being in Canada House so we can ensure our plans reflect their aspirations for the spaces. The latest session was with @SteelChoristers!
Lampstands made out of tubas, people to help you practise, a stage, soft lighting and a theatre organ
These are some things we're hoping for in Harmony Works, the new centre for music that is being developed in Sheffield. Thanks to Heather from @SheffMusicHub who came to ask us
Thanks to Heather Burge and Hannah Watson at @SheffMusicHub for bringing this together!.
Following the purchase of Canada House by Harmony Works Trust, we're so happy to be able to say that we're now working out of the building in advance of its major renovation. Here's our first Trustee Meeting in our Canada House office!

Harmony Works is thrilled to have received the support of @thesheff1000. This funding will help us to run events and workshops with children and young people - the people who'll benefit from Harmony Works - to get their ideas on how they want the finished venue to look and work.
We've already had some fantastic input as the project has developed over the last 5 years. As we move into our detailed design phase, we're keen that young musicians bring HW to life with us, so it's welcoming, accessible to all and great for creating the music they want to make
Thank you, Sheffield 1000!
