(1/2) A bit of personal news: my duties with @uschess are shifting a bit. I am now editor of Chess Life and Chess Life Kids, and relinquishing day-to-day digital duties. I will still be creating online content, but mainly longer-form writing and video.

(1/6) Glad you’re here @hassanrahim. Yes your reaction is correct. The reason people suddenly want to talk about this is that the cost of production is at the floor. Now that we can will anything into existence with the new tools, the people with the best “taste” are seen as more valuable to organizations than they have ever been. The fallacy is that “taste” is being treated as a credential you can sell. But the fallacy is that “taste” now means something that can be sold and not something that is unique.

Won't matter to many, but... ChessBase 26 has a hard display limit of 30 million games. All are accessible via search, but not in the game list. CB 16 did not have this limit. ChessBase support doesn't see this regression as problematic.

Somehow they ran out of worthy candidates so I've been elected to the Nebraska Chess Hall of Fame. A short ceremony will take place on Dec 19 between rounds at an event here in Omaha.
It's strange to be given a valedictory award when I'm just hitting my stride, but so it goes.
Today @nimzochess turns 75. A true scholar of the game with dozens of books to his credit, including the classics Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy: Advances Since Nimzowitsch and Chess Strategy in Action, he's been a key mentor to many, including me, and he's an absolute mensch.

Hey engine nerds: @stockfishchess has renormalized their evals in the latest dev version. "In the updated WDL model, 78cp would roughly map to 100cp." Things are gonna look weird for awhile I guess!
