WordPress’s Abilities API is the underrated one. Plugins register what they can do in a machine-readable way, so AI agents and tools can discover and call those actions.
If you build plugins, start declaring abilities. It’s how your plugin gets “driven” by agents later. 🤖
Heads up on #PHP2Shell: updating WordPress or Laravel does NOT fix it. The bug is in the PHP runtime, not your app code.
Affected: Apache mod_php, PHP-FPM, php-cgi, FrankenPHP and LiteSpeed.
Fix = upgrade PHP + restart the process. A composer update won’t do it.
PHP2Shell is real. PHP shipped emergency fixes on Oct 21 for two critical unauthenticated RCE bugs, CVSS 9.2
Patched versions: 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35.
“Unauthenticated RCE” means an attacker needs no login to run code on your server. Check your version now:
php -v
Laravel 13 requires PHP 8.3 as the minimum. If your servers are still on 8.1, your upgrade path starts at the PHP version, not the framework.
