“Adam’s Song” is from blink-182’s 1999 album Enema of the State. Written mainly by Mark Hoppus, it was inspired by the loneliness he felt on tour (while his bandmates had girlfriends to go home to) and by a teenage note he had read in a magazine.
Released in 2000 as the album’s third single, it reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. It contains a clear lyrical nod to Nirvana’s “Come as You Are,” and Hoppus has said he almost left it off the album because he worried the subject was too dark for a blink-182 record.

24 years ago today, a TV show called Around the Horn debuted with beeps and boops and a new button only previously seen on remote controls.
A sports talk game show?! I still think there’s something to that!!
Miss you all, Happy birthday, Horn!
I encourage you all to celebrate in your own way. If you can’t mute the one you want, mute the one you’re with.

Snoop Dogg explained in 80 seconds why men stopped approaching women.
Do men not shoot their shot anymore because social media turned dating into a simulation?
Snoop says yes, and his reason is better than the usual “phones ruined everything” take.
In his era, getting with someone took real effort. You had to look at her, talk to her, get her to like you, and know her parents and how she moved. You had to get involved before you could get involved.
Now it’s a couple of pictures and a couple of lines, and people expect something real from a few typed words.
The part I found most interesting is his point about texting. A text gives you what he’s typing, not what he’s saying. “You look good today” can read as sweet or creepy depending on the mood of the person reading it. Text has no tone, face or feeling to go with it.
Approaching someone in person is hard on purpose. It makes you learn to read people, handle a no, and become someone worth talking to. When you skip that, you also skip what it would have taught you.
What he calls the cheat code ended up costing men the skill.

Seems the moderate Democratic candidates have been a huge reason for the success tonight. Now let's take care of the American people. No grudge politics. Affordable health care, end this war with Iran and put America first.

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL
My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express.
I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.
My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this.
I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.
To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people.
One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.
Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough.
God is good. My faith is strong.

Spartan Football great, first Black Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives, and 1st Lieutenant Joe Tate, USMC, shared this with me many years ago. We posted it in the Spartan WR. It says everything you need to know about what a true team - of any kind - embodies.
