"The computer was not made in the image of the person," the anthropologist Edwin Hutchins wrote in Cognition in the Wild in 1995. "The computer was made in the image of the formal manipulations of abstract symbols. And the last 30 years of cognitive science can be seen as attempts to remake the person in the image of the computer." The first time I read this line it felt intuitive, but I think we’re approaching a precipice where this changes, where the computer begins to remake itself through our concepts. Its form factor will shift again. We will more and more encounter computation "in the wild," and our common reference points, the personal computer, the discrete device, or even discrete program, may become only one of its manifestations among many.

I am THRILLED to announce the launch of Lettertrace. Lettertrace tracks your AI visibility on popular LLMs ... for free. You heard that right. Free. Not freemium. FREE. And the best part? It's open source and built on a CLI. We have long believed that companies should be able to track their brand visibility without having to buy another SaaS solution. Google Search Console is free. Why isn't AI visibility? So we changed that. Just provide your Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google API keys (or, even better, use a single model router key like Merge, Concentrate AI, or OpenRouter). That's it. It'll track how often your brand shows up in AI search. It's built for coding agents. Natively. Just install our CLI. Then tell Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. Using your existing company context, the agent will build out prompt telemetry that you can access on the Lettertrace app or literally anywhere else. It's open source. 100% free (have I mentioned, it's free). MIT license. Steal it, copy it, sell it, build on it. It's entirely up to you. You might be wondering why we're doing this. Is it out of sheer benevolence? Maybe a little. But this video should clear that up.

it’s entirely likely now that once ai collapses the cost of the software layer (which is almost there), the creative layer & perhaps differentiators moves down the stack to hardware, & we might see a cambrian explosion of devices because the integration tax that historically gated hardware startups is now much much less. you’re already seeing this wearables right now. i hope we get a ton of creativity here whether it’s ambient hardware at home or on your desk or on the go. ai will be able to live on these surfaces in a natural way, as easily as the way your coffee table lives in your living room today.

I’m a proud friend! congrats on the new Era era 💐🌻
Today we're launching Era and announcing $11M in funding. We're building the intelligence layer for a new ecosystem of AI devices — the platform that lets any device manufacturer, brand, designer, or creator make objects that think, respond, and act in their own style. We're entering a Cambrian explosion — new form factors, new creators, new objects worth desiring. Made by people who've never had the tools to make them, before today. Welcome to the new Era. Backed by @AbstractVC, @BoxGroup, @topology_vc, @betaworks, @CollaborativeFund, @MozillaVentures, and @AIResidency.
