The first SysAdvent article for this year speaks highly of Head First Go, but they're right, finding a good tutorial book is only one piece of the puzzle. We strongly agree with their recommendations of Exercism and learning #git as well! sysadvent.blogspot.com/2021/… #golang

realtoughcandy.com/best-gola… is a well-curated list of #golang books. How do we know? Because it features Head First Go! Thanks to @realtoughcandy for thinking of us!

In @headfirstgo the "pill container" analogy is used for an Array, which I really love. It's fixed size, and you index into the collection with a day of the week (0-6). It can't grow. Much better than the ladder analogy ;)

I'm in the latest episode of Heroku's Code[ish] podcast! They were recording from their booth at #GopherCon and invited me to stop by. My appearance is at 12:09, but listen to the whole thing; it's a great way to get the pulse of the conference! heroku.com/podcasts/codeish/…

Head First Go has a perfect five star average on Amazon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Probably because there's only one review so far, but hey, we'll take it!) 😉 We'd love to see more reviews! amazon.com/Head-First-Go-Jay…

Some nice aspects of #golang only become obvious when you switch back to another language. For example, Go's function definition syntax progresses forward in time as you read left to right, from the parameters to the return type. C#/Java put the return type BEFORE the parameters!

I had disabled the "goimports" hook in my editor because I didn't want to miss noting when an import needed to be added in the samples for Head First Go. Just re-enabled it. Ahh, what a relief! 😌 godoc.org/golang.org/x/tools…
Hot off the presses! (Or maybe that's 'cause it was delivered to an Arizona mailbox.) Now would be a good time to go hit that "Pre-Order" button on Amazon. You won't be waiting very long! amazon.com/dp/1491969555 #golang
1/2 Due to a misconfiguration on oreilly.com, the author wasn't notified of several errata submissions for the Early Release. As a result, three (minor) confirmed errata are present in the first printing, which you can review here: oreilly.com/catalog/errata.c…

2/2 The errata site has been fixed, and all future submissions will receive the author's immediate attention. Corrections have also been submitted for all confirmed errata, which should be fixed in all future printings. Sorry for any confusion!
There is a new #golang book that just went to print on Amazon. It's called Head First Go by @jaymcgavren. It has a different feel and style from most of the other books out there today. headfirstgo.com/
