this is how apple wins. lean into on-device ai and stop creating silly devices
New 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6. The chip upgrade is the main upgrade. Apple really leaning into on-device, local AI capabilities. And some good news: Pricing appears to be staying the same.

that’s where i think we’ll end up going towards. even if people don’t care about quality, budgets and hardware will likely force people into caring about performance. finally saved our team 300+ GB of k8s ram thanks to budget tightness. a sloppy dev cannot fix that
Totally agree. Background: electronics engineering, taught myself computer vision, machine learning & programming in several programming languages including C/C++. Now program high performance parallel computer vision algorithms for embedded, mobile & robotics systems.

the gop really about to fuck off all of its wins because it cannot tell the lame duck mad king to piss off lmao. this is like part 102927373 reason why voter primaries are a terrible idea

"limitations" sort of smuggling in whatever you want to ignore tho. and agentic flows really depends on the task. h100s can be used for heavy lifting but the costs and power gets pricey quickly with problems with context sizes vs vram. so taught the fundamentals but not details
Replying to @rdd147
AI is good at teaching fundamentals of how it works - you can ask Claude itself on how to run agentic AI and what is limitation of H100 (if any). Or for that matter, what is the meaning of agentic AI and how tokens are produced.

Microsoft isn't trying to get 60,000 people to voluntarily leave the company. There's years of industry data that predicts a certain percentage will probably take the offer, but the goal isn't 60,000. MSFT might be aiming for 2-10% to take it. However, no one on the outside truly knows their internal targets. It's not something crazy like 50%, or even 25%.

Let’s be honest: The fake Dan Sullivan thing is very shady and plainly a cynical effort to confuse Alaskan voters. But not everything that’s shady is illegal. Maybe running “in good faith” should be a constitutional requirement for Senate, but it’s not. wakeuptopolitics.com/p/trump…

the funny thing is this reveals a bit of incompetence in leadership with many narratives
Microsoft layoffs, last four years— Jan '23: 10,000 Jul '23: 1,000 Jan '24: 1,900 Jun '24: 1,000 May '25: 6,000 Jul '25: 9,000 Apr '26 - Retirement offer to 7% of US staff Jul '26: 4,800 Oct '26 - Buyout offer to 60,000 employees

1. no 2. we don’t get to do that in other countries. i get the *want* to. terrible idea to implement tho

And it seems to me that we need to enforce the laws we have that make this activity illegal. And that may require significantly more resources than we are devoting to it. We should have more US Customs Agents questioning folks returning from that part of the world.

the government already is aware of this issue. the problem is that expats can reasonably exploit the whole thing, and it’s a quasi-market issue. a disgusting and inhumane market issue, but a market issue

a very cursed outcome would be the market prices shoot up, and the tourists shell out a premium for protection. this whole thing is gross. i don't wanna think about it. that's enough of that topic. back to code and making fun of Gavin Baker for being innumerate

“charging less will make you more money some how. no, i will not see how the function’s derivative is changing”
I am shocked, absolutely shocked, that Anthropic ARR has likely gone vertical in October after they cut token prices. Except the exact same thing happened for the entire AI market, which is why GPU rental prices have surged while token prices declined. $100b plus in year-end ARR looks possible again.

damn, this thing feels rushed?
NEW: iPhone Duo screen-cracking issue is real. Apple hasn’t given stores or customer service representatives guidance but the company is investigating. Several people have sent me images and stories of their new $2000 device breaking within hours. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

nah Gary, don’t use caution. we obviously need to extrapolate this to the valuation. $2 TLN USD plz /s
CAUTION: Two view of Anthropic, one without Q3 (from @altcap), the other extended into Q3 based on public data by @billylo. The one without Q3 (from @altcap) shows a rising trend; the one with Q3 shows a deceleration relative to that rise. Q2 was the peak of tokenmaxxing; Q3 is the dawn of a new post-tokenmaxxing regime, with growth decelerating. You can’t have a realistic picture of Anthropic’s prospects if you don’t look at those data. The draft S-1 didn’t report them.
