A big addition to Fold. A @Stanford professor, formerly on the faculty at Harvard , whose research has helped advance AI-driven understanding of human behaviour, is joining us as Co-founder and Chief Behaviourist Scientist. We’re building a world model of people for the physical world. This is a significant step towards it. Name reveal soon.

Huge thanks to @hellosimar for hosting Saturday and @felcheck for bravely volunteering to experience 1:1 hypnosis in front of the group of @ycombinator founders. We distorted time. The past life regression ran for 1 hour. People swore it was only 20 min. Here’s what happened 🧵👇
This is a pic with 1/3 of group that joined today for Hypnosis event with @LucidMunjal - I went in skeptical. But my mind was blown by the end - we started with a fireside chat, Q-A. Talked about hypnosis, talk therapy, psychedelics, meditation, telepathy, investing, recognizing future billionaires, mind reading, startups, founder psychology and more - all of us had different levels of experience/belief in hypnosis. Open minded discussion and debate Then the real thing started. @felcheck offered to be a subject for a live hypnosis. 1-1. And then Munjal offered a group hypnosis. Past life regression. Sounds like voodoo but what happened next is indescribable - the entire group experienced a hypnotic state. In my mind, I saw so many things and experiences (happy to talk in-person). Others too experienced stuff they had never seen. We thought it was 20 min, were shocked to learn that group hypnosis ran for an hour. Time distortion is real! Highly recommend everyone to connect with @LucidMunjal if you’re interested in this topic. He has a gift and can make hypnosis happen to anyone. Glad and grateful I got to experience such a wonderful thing today. Thanks to @getak100 and entire Inkle team for giving us such a lovely venue to host this. Thanks to everyone who showed up. It was quite an experience. I might host another intimate experience with Munjal. DM if you’re interested and I’ll invite you to the next one. Thanks to @rachnabafna and Amneet for their support in making this happen. Hypnosis is real. V powerful. You can instantly get in an altered state and realise you’re beyond this mind and body (you’re a soul?). It’s an amazing tool to unlock things and require patterns. Done under a right coach, it can make you invincible, kind, happy and creative. video coming soon!

To generalize from the Kasparov & the math debacle: as a rule, all performative skills will be destroyed by AI. A computer will always outperform a human, so chess is no longer a skill. Same w/mathematical acrobatics. What's left is what makes us human.
Kasparov is the best evidence that one can be both retarded and Chess grandmaster.

Rewire your neural pathways and tap into your subconscious mind!
Attended a sound bath session at @ycombinator Reboot and experienced a strange sensation. Talking to fellow YC founders made me realise that some went into a state of trance. Posted this experience on X and a friend told me he's a trained hypnotherapist from last 10 years and HYPNOSIS IS REAL! I am a founder, a man of science. Skeptical of such claims but my friend is legit. So, I am hosting this intimate event with him to explore this domain. Link - luma.com/r6lmqlg9

You are human beings, I'm a human being; you want a happy life, and I want a happy life. But I think that aim will not be fulfilled only on the basis of material values; what we all want is affection and what we all need is to be more warm-hearted.

The loser has more in common with the winner than with the person sitting on the sidelines. The winner and the loser each had the courage to try. Both risked embarrassment. Both were willing to face uncertainty. Both were stubborn enough to continue. Success is endurance in disguise. It belongs to the person who can absorb the losses without absorbing the identity of "loser." It's the courage to start — and to stick with it — that is the real separator. Results tend to find the person who stays in the game. The sidelines are safe, but sterile. Nothing grows there.

Something I told 14 yo: You have to be able to throw stuff away to do great work. You never get so good that you get everything right the first time. You have to be able to cut.

adult life is basically an incredibly short loop disguised by changing details: wake up → make yourself presentable → work → eat with someone → go home → sleep → repeat. we imagine life as this enormous narrative, but most of it is just the same 5–6 human activities repeated thousands of times. the people, places, clothes, jobs, dinners change. but the underlying structure barely does. which is probably why tiny deviations feel so disproportionately meaningful like a trip, falling in love, a great conversation, quitting a job, or seeing something beautiful. they briefly break the loop.

I entered UCLA as a freshman at 46 and graduated with a computer science and digital media management degree at 50. In the ten years since, I’ve made three feature films, two film shorts, established a film festival, written for numerous publications, and published two books (third one on the way). You’re either alive or dead. Those are the only two ages.
People on here will ask “Is it too late to start over at 28?” and everyone will reply “Yikes. Hate to break it to you gramps but it was over for you 10 years ago.” Meanwhile my 63 year old neighbor is taking the bar exam because he has a list of pharma companies he plans to sue

This line from Atomic Habits isn't ready to leave my head: "It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment."

You think AI is going to take all of our jobs?? Brother, there was a time and place where a huge portion of global GDP was focused on bringing spices from asia to europe SPICES Mark my words, we will just make up stuff to do as AI takes on the "hard" work

Charlie Munger used to repeat that we need to be just and fair to the other side of the table, as roles can be reversed at any time. He insisted that if you treat the other side ruthlessly when you have the upper hand, you guarantee your own destruction when the scales inevitably tilt. This is applicable to all aspects of life. Unfortunately, it is usually forgotten by all ruling parties.
