This is important. Everyone should watch it, particularly those responsible for climate-related/impacting policy. #scied #climatechange
In 1985, Carl Sagan sat before the US Senate and described the weather of 2026. Not as a prediction. As physics. Bookmark & watch today, no matter what.

Just listened to @Dave_Eby speak in Kamloops the @Tkemlups #TruthandReconciliation event today. Powerful words of support for #ResidentialSchool survivors. Thank you, Premier Eby.
Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We honour survivors, remember the children who never came home, and stand with the families and communities still healing. We know the truth about residential schools. Survivors told it. The courts confirmed it. And yet denialism and hate are still with us. We saw it on Sunday, when masked white nationalists showed up on Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc land to frighten people in their own homes. We answer intimidation by standing shoulder to shoulder with survivors. That's how we build a stronger B.C., where every child knows they matter.

Happy autumnal equinox, everyone! #scied #astronomy
Pretty intuitive animation explaining seasons, equinox, solstice, length of day and night. Today marks the autumn equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. [🎞️ German Valencia Garcia]

Scientists have created one of the most detailed 3D reconstructions of a human cell (eukaryotic cell) ever produced. This groundbreaking model, often termed a "Cellular Landscape Cross-Section Through a Eukaryotic Cell," combines data from X-ray tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and cryo-electron microscopy to map molecular structures in extreme detail.

It’s official! Premier David Eby announces BC’s move to permanent Daylight Savings Time in a new time zone that will be known as “Pacific Time”. See video news release here: xitter.cf/dave_eby/status/202863…
It’s official! We’re springing forward just one more time, and then we’re adopting permanent daylight savings time in BC. 🕰️ That means more sunshine and better sleep for people across our province.

Chilliwack’s truth & reconciliation work, Powell River’s deep community connections, Kamloops’ thriving professional learning communities – are just some examples of why BC’s education system ranks as one of the best in the world, writes our President. bcpvpa.insite.com/files/web/…

In 1969, 32-year-old Margaret Hamilton led the team that wrote the onboard software for Apollo 11. With just 72 KB of memory and punch-card programming, her code had to be flawless. It was. Minutes before touchdown, the Apollo Guidance Computer triggered overload alarms. Hamilton’s built-in error-detection and priority system instantly shed non-critical tasks, keeping the lunar module on course. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed safely because her software refused to fail.Hamilton didn’t just help put humans on the Moon—she coined the term “software engineering” and invented many of the resilient coding practices we still use today. A pioneering woman in STEM who literally wrote the code that changed history.

Every machine in a Hospital that diagnoses your body without cutting you open is based on a principle of Physics, discovered by a Physicist who had no interest in Medicine. If you think the world doesn’t need Basic Science, or that somehow Science has failed you, think again.

Agree with this 100% @dylanwiliam. Educational expertise is required if our end goal is to teach/scaffold ethical use and actually improve student outcomes (as opposed to providing an irresistible shortcut that subverts student learning).
This is why I think K-12 teachers need to be involved in the development of uses of AI in K-12 education. I don't think it's a good idea to leave it to the tech companies...

I recently sat down with three leaders who are part of the @ObamaFoundation's alumni network to hear more about their work to strengthen democracy in Hungary and Poland. They’re an example for us all. Take a look: obama.org/stories/president-…

Let’s be clear about what Alberta is proposing: BC loses billions of dollars of major projects from private investors. AND Canadian taxpayers are forced to pay billions more because there is no interest from a private company. That’s not fair & fairness is a Canadian value.

Showing off our orange shirts in the office at @KOOL_SD73. We had an engaging and well-attended virtual gathering today, discussing with students and parents the importance of September 30 and the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day. #TruthAndReconciliation @Kamloops_SD73

No matter what Trump’s ambassador says, Canadians aren’t “mean and nasty” for choosing to buy Canadian and travel locally. We’re taking a stand against Trump’s threats to our sovereignty and standing on our own two feet. Let's hold the line.
