This wave of ‘I didn’t connect with it’ and ‘it didn’t work for me’ style of reviewing films is not it. Having a personal connection can be great as an aside but it shouldn’t be a prerequisite to recognize and properly review a good or great film.

Ako kasi I personally want to spoil my parents for their hardword when I was building myself from scratch, kaya if celebrating my parents' birthday is what they want, I'm gonna give it to them willingly kasi who knows until when natin sila makakasama. Nakakalungkot lang why she had this sentiment :(
And I think that’s what bothers me about conversations like this. There’s a tendency to measure parenthood entirely through the lens of what we feel we were owed as children, without ever considering that our parents are also human beings with their own histories and limitations.
You’re making an entire community answer for the actions of some gay men. Hindi porke may ilang baklang may issue, you get to weaponize that against the gay community and reduce its struggles to some shallow delusion about gay men wanting straight men. That’s a gross conflation.

This is the reason why I still believe it’s difficult to mess up a film with a beautiful screenplay. A strong foundation and framework will make a building stand.
We should be able to hold people accountable without making their dignity conditional on how well they represent the community. Hindi dapat kailangan maging perfect na bakla para maging baklang deserving na ipagtanggol.
