New podcast:
I spoke to @hlinehan on @IrishTimes Inside Politics about why climate action has to mean higher living standards, not higher costs, and whether regulation really is to blame for our failure to build.
The trilemma, unpacked.

Why hasn't right-wing populism taken off in Ireland?
@hlinehan and I discussed that question and much more in our Inside Elections x GD POLITICS crossover podcast at the Irish Times studio in Dublin!
On today’s Inside Politucs I’m joined by @helenlewis to discuss her @TheAtlantic article on a political movement intent on rolling back feminism returning to the good old days of the patriarchy. Link ⬇️

Interesting numbers from Galway West suggest a three way fight for the seat. @PatLeahyIT and @JackHoJo go through it with me on Inside Politics. Find it in all the usual places.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our live show in Galway last night. We had great fun (which is obviously the most important thing) but also got great questions from the audience who were also polite enough to laugh at our jokes. irishtimes.com/podcasts/insi…
This piece, and O’Toole’s conversation with @hlinehan on the @IrishTimesPolitics podcast, is a thoughtful analysis of @fiannafailparty’s place in Irish history.
As Europe’s most successful party in the 20th c it needs to be understood.

Great piece from @hlinehan in the Irish Times today on RTE's new "unified audio identity". Unified as one bland mass of uninspired vaguery.

In case anyone in Ireland was wondering why I pushed back on Hugh Linehan in his hit piece podcast before Christmas - the attached thread gives a sense.
Linehan injected smears about me published after my research into Antifa journalist infiltration of the SPLC and American newsrooms. He took the side of the SPLC's Michael Hayden and other long-disgraced Antifa 'journalists'. He attempted to discredit my Antifa research and refused to accept that he was recycling debunked criticisms of my work by friends of the Antifa journalists I outed - criticisms that have been long since proven false by the research passing double blind peer review in a respected Springer journal.
Linehan presented smears and attempts to destroy my career and livelihood from that period as truth and framed that period of my life in which I and my family was savagely abused and harassed at great personal and financial cost by these people as being deserved.
Yesterday the SPLC was indicted on multiple counts of fraud and money laundering. On top of my research linking the SPLC to Antifa having long been vindicated academically, the indictment is a good feeling of vindication today.
It is a win for everyone who endured untold abuse for pursuing the truth.
But in the Irish context, it raises questions about ethical standards in Irish newsrooms and what degree of influence radical left activists who engage in harassment and abuse to stoke up anger and hate online are relied upon by Irish news outlets. The SPLC met their end because their demand for right wing extremism outstripped supply. Anyone watching the Irish media will notice a similar oversaturation of 'far right' actors.
