Rusty reds, golden yellows and earthy browns. Edward Hopper had a very autumnal palette. 🍂 While we aren’t able to pinpoint a specific painting, Hopper's palette reminds us of Girl at a Sewing Machine, painted in 1921.

Edward Hopper's childhood bedroom at dusk is a fitting view for the first Sunday of the time change.
His fascination with light began early, right here in Nyack, and was central to his work throughout his life. We're gonna miss that extra hour in the evening. How about you?
Sharing one of our favorite Halloween throwbacks featuring this incredibly crafted pumpkin recreation of Edward Hopper's iconic Automat (1927).
Kudos to Chris Soria of Nyack's Maniac Pumpkin Carvers who created this for the @whitneymuseum in 2022! 🎃
Grateful to @nuagejournal_ on Instagram for sharing these lovely photos and this wonderful observation about Edward Hopper. We couldn't agree more!
“Autumn is a season that echoes his solitude, stillness, and palette. Hopper captures burgundy with effortless elegance.” 🍂

There’s a lot to love about this photograph of Edward and Jo Hopper. But Jo’s expression might be our favorite part. ❤️
Their marriage was complicated, but art remained central to their lives together.
See works by both artists in Susan Chen: Rooms by the Sea, through Feb. 21.

“So much of every art is an expression of the subconscious, that it seems to me most of all the important qualities are put there unconsciously, and little of importance by the conscious intellect...”
