Leaving behind only a faint smell as eventually we all do.

It's a part of me, I think. It's my responsibility anyway.

Something is still roaming the rooms inside me. Painting with bright colors and vivid shapes. Something is taking those lights and turning them in godly tapestries. Three lights of my own making couldn’t been put out.

The lights are on.

I rip the door open and whatever he sees scares him so badly he twists his face into a scream.

But in the moment they only want one thing, whatever it is, and they will bleed to get it. They will bleed all their blood out just for one second of relief.

I feel a distant curiosity at myself. I'm not normally a patient man, but I reach my thick arms out like a tree falling in a dream, and I smile. A weeping smile. I have all night. The guests do not.

And when he finally turns off the light and goes to bed I am on fire with hungry vengeance for a life I never lived and a death that didn't release me.

I wonder how long until he tries to carve his way through with the key I left him. I wonder how much longer after that until he turns the key onto himself.

I decided to leave him there all three nights. It's what he wanted, after all.

The first thing I feel is a body being constructed for me. Then it's stripped away of everything but my bones. I'm being torn apart.

He's been calling all night even though it's barely 11. He checked in early, I think, and he's made it very clear the accommodations provided are not up to snuff.

I don't like this room. I don't like most of the rooms in The Hotel. Except the lobby.
