Every time I see something like this about the British Navy i think about the fact that the US Navy went toe-to-toe with them in the War of 1812 with like six frigates and a bunch of privateers and it got so bad that the British admiralty forbade ships from engaging American frigates unless they had a two to one advantage.

Feels like one of those wars where though it didn't change much immiediately, it did ensure the US became the dominant power on the continent, I.e. it would be doing the nibbling of other colonial powers' and indigenous' territories.
