Plaid are entirely right that the last gov squandered a lot of their time in office. But increasingly the impression of the new government is of a debilitating lack of confidence in their own ideas, a culture of timidity and a really surprising fundamental conservatism.

I wonder, just as an experiment, where Wales could do without having a government, anywhere, for a while – at Wetherby, England

Our Friends in the North being repeated at the moment on BBC4. Possibly my favourite drama ever. The pinnacle of BBC drama. Peter Flannery is a great writer. If you’ve never watched it do yourself a favour and watch it on IPlayer. And a great soundtrack too.

Panama v England is the World Cup’s only group-stage match where both countries have seen disastrous attempts at Scottish expansionism. Scotland tried to colonise what is now Panama in 1698 (Darien Scheme), but bankruptcy followed. Scotland invaded England in 1513, but King James IV was killed at the battle of Flodden. Stay tuned for more cutting-edge, geography(ish)-based World Cup analysis. (I hope my fellow Scots will forgive this painful trip into the past, but I couldn't find one geographic similarity between them.)

The Gaffer on Ieuan 💬 “I’m so looking forward to working with him. We had a little flavour of him during the last week of the season when he came up for a look about. This gave him an indication of how we work, as well as the standard and tempo of how we want to play. That whetted his appetite but also ours and we’re so excited to work with him during his career here moving forward.” 📰 tinyurl.com/3925avrm

Research suggests almost no working class MSPs at Holyrood. Same story in Wales. The election here was historic in many ways but in class terms it's a story of continuity. A handover from one group of middle class professionals to another.
I spoke to @TheScotsman about social class as a dominant inequality which rarely speaks its name in Scottish politics. Holyrood is dominated by a professional polo class and has failed to meet the trade union movement’s hopes for a ‘workers’ parliament’. scotsman.com/news/politics/i…

According to this new book, 103 nations have by now played a men's cricket international If the new @WelshGovernment can sort out a Wales team, I'll say something nice about them!

This map eloquently confirms everything that the @Gwlad_Gwlad manifesto says about the reasons for the Welsh economy's weakness, and how to tackle them. Reason: low pay, lack of people in the higher tax bands Solution: cut tax rates for high-earners to attract more of them.
Replying to @PlinthBotherer5
This heat map of income tax contributions should keep everyone in Welsh policy circles up at night. There's almost nothing going on. (Quite a lot of prosperity gets pretty close to the border without any spillover at all)

PA have published their estimates for when they think the Senedd results will be out. I do wonder if we'll get more recounts than usual because of how many 5th/6th Senedd seats look likely to be marginal between Plaid and Reform.

Great to be out in sunny Cil-y-coed (Caldicot) and Cas-Gwent (Chepstow). Great response for @Gwlad_Gwlad, once again many interested in what we have to say, many also found it refreshing there’s an alternative pro independence party, on the centre-right! Many also agree with our view on the M4! Vote Gwlad May 7! Pleidleiswch Gwlad Mai 7! Gall Cymru fod yn well! Cymru can be better!

Line in this saying "one party needs to be bigger than Reform to stop them" is just straightforwardly not true. I do think who comes first is important. But the framing here is, to be generous, really stretching things.
What kind of Wales do you want the next generation to grow up in? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 A good future isn't guaranteed - you have to vote for it. 🗳️ Vote Plaid Cymru on 7 May to stop Reform and build a better Wales.

I cant find it atm , but there is a post somewhere explaining how voters need to understand better where money comes from to fund public services. And politicians (if they understand themselves) need to be more honest about it The summary of the article below is bang on
I am willing to bet (sadly) that the winning party in Wales will very soon regret that they won, since the current NHS and social care system is an albatross and will bring them down, unless they are bold and able to carry the public and workers ✍️ Rajan Madhok wp.me/p8Mk4U-1kkx
