How does the committee reward a team (moving them up a seed) after losing first round of the conference tournament? And the team ahead of them gets farther and doesn’t get a bid? Makes no sense at all

Sorry for the rants... but I continue to question DII committees. GVSU men were FOURTH last ranking, went 1-1 in GLIAC tourney. Bellarmine was 6th, lost in GLVC quarterfinal. Somehow they JUMP the Lakers into the tournament? WHAT?? @NCAADII please provide an explanation...
